442 for a time. Missionary position. Cheese sandwich. Keep it as simple as possible.
Davies Edwards Collins Batth McClean Ince Etebo Clucas Duffy Hogan Gregory
Balls out wide, crosses from Duffy and Ince. Knock downs. Gregory drops back into MF when are defending.

Drop Allen, Ince and Clucas, all culpable parts of the team for most of this disastrous run over the past 12 months, for Cousins, Etebo and Duffy. Cousins to hold, Woods to pass, Etebo to drive forward, Duffy to create, behind Gregory as the workaholic lone striker.

We are getting overrun because there isn't one player in the team who can tackle. I don't think I have seen such a powder puff midfield in all my time watching Stoke. When they do bother to tackle they hardly ever win the ball.

We'd never get out of our own half.🙁

4-4-1-1 for me and we concentrate on keeping clean sheets over the next 20 or games.
If we plan our set pieces properly we will still score a few goals, but a run of goalless draws will be a relief.

Not enough energy from full back or the midfield to cover ground so too much space. Also, confusion, lack of confidence. As I say, Gregory would drop back to create a 5 man midfield when defending. Anyhow, all hypothetical. Playing defensive formations isn't necessarily the best way out of this for me - that brings its own problems. The problems are confusion and mistakes. Playing a simple system would help. What you are suggesting though looks better too.

I agree with the post it’s crazy that we are playing a narrow formation an we are leaving massive gaps in the middle shows how poor the middle is
