My Mother was down at the weekend & I had Miles Davis playing through Spotify, cause they’ve posthumously released a “new” record of his. My mother scoffed, “Who’s this” I said, “Miles Davis” “Never heard of him.” She says... I did point out to her the he is an artist of her generation, but she’s having none of it. That said, she doesn’t rate any of the Beatles music, after the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs

I love Birth of the Cool and although Kind of Blue is a jazz cliche, it's with very good reason. I can't get into his later, more experimental, stuff though.

Yep, that album specifically actually. I like my jazz closer to the days of bebop. Especially Sonny Rollins and Thelonious Monk. Nice!

I want to go to Ronnie Scott's ( London) next year. I like some bluesy jazz, particularly the saxophone. Any advice?

I bought that LP recently. I really like the rhythm section but like most Miles Davies albums I'd prefer it if Miles Davies wasn't on there with his grating, off-key caterwauling.

Never stopped Dylan or Lydon 🎤

I thought we'd been linked to him, for a minute. You are thinking of Miles Offside.

Did a great trumpet piece on scritti politti's single oh patti. There are at least 3 euphemisms in that small sentence.

'In A Silent Way' is rather fab. Possibly/probably spawned prog rock, or at least majorly shaped the Canterbury Scene of Soft Machine etc.
Bitches Brew is mint, my mum's not very keen on it either though. The Man with the green shirt.
Roland Raahsan Kirk is a 'freer-jazz' fave too
