I have for many years struggled with a bad/weak knee initially caused by a footballing injury.
I have now reluctantly decided that I should consider Knee replacement as it continues to deteriorate.
I would be interested to hear from fellow Oatcakers of their experiences and advice.
I live in Mid Staffs are there any surgeons that you would recommend?

It’s your call but I’d get it done
And don’t listen to people as you’ll only hear bad stories which are far outweighed by the good

My knee was damaged playing football 50 years ago and like you a Lifetime of locking knee and pain 24/7 , as a result I had acute osteoarthritis develop. Had full replacement 2 years ago . It's brilliant no pain waking me up all night . I can walk more than 200 yards and hope to resume skiing without my knee swelling up . The doc will say after 3 months it's all well and good but its only recently that the post opp pains have completely stopped . So don't wait it's liberation

My father-in-law had both knees replaced a few years ago.
He’s dead now!
It wasn’t anything to do with the op as far as we are aware. More to do with his dementia.
The op was a huge success and he was back on his feet within days. He worked hard at the exercises and became much more mobile than he had been for years. Getting up/down, kneeling & his general mobility were greatly improved and added much to his quality of life.
