Im not one of the moaners but its hard to get excited after last season.
Every single indication was that we were going to piss it. From the managers comments down to the transfers.
After the catastophe of last and with little shown by way of major improvement its hard to get behind it.
Sorry in advance for being a miserable sod

Last season has lessened expectations a little which probably isn’t a bad thing. I can see us challenging for the playoffs and at the very least playing a much more exciting, attacking brand of football.
Think Powell will be key this season, and Gayle if we can swing it ! UTP

Sorry in advance for being a miserable sod I'm genuinely excited for the start of any season, I've been stung more than enough times to know that pre-season bluster is just that. Absolutely fascinated to see if the diamond works, our new players, how opposition teams line up, dissecting where formations work and where they don't. Best time of the year immediately after the worst time of the year.

What we need is some good old underdog mentality, have we become so entitled that being in the championship is such an onerous burden? And we need £15-20mil strikers before we get out of bed with a spring in our step?
Fuck that, this is a great league and the team look more capable of giving a shit. There’s no shame in not getting promoted from this league, so long as we go in to each match with some fire and give every other set of fans the Stoke City experience bring it on!!!!

Looking forward to seeing you Waggy on Saturday in the top tier, flask and blanket in hand, punching the chest of your Greenwood’s jacket and struggling not to let out a tiny swear word as you urge the boys on.
The world needs more Waggy’s.

The expectation thing is key, though I don't necessarily agree with it fans were agitated and booing last year because they were promised the Earth and didn't see anything like it. I'm hoping this season we temper expectations so that we all understand it's a long hard slog and not simply a procession like the club rhetoric was last year.

I think part of that came about because the players thought it would be a stroll too, I've never seen us so cavalier as we were against Leeds. They must have known right there and then they weren't up to task.

I'm excited for a good season. I think despite the injury to Ryan we are better prepared for the championship this season. Are we perfect? No. Will we walk the league? No. But we have a manager who knows what he wants and seems to have a squad buying into what he wants, you only have to look how lean and fit they came back to pre season like. Up the potters !

There was definitely an element of ‘we should walk this’ last season, from both players and fans (not all). Hopefully if that’s gone this year we should be better prepared.

It will be nice to actually start the season at home to an average team, with a decent chance of 3 points for a change, and be off to a good start. (Which guarantees it’ll all go wrong Saturday😂)

Sorry in advance for being a miserable sod Norwich didn't have high expectations and maybe works in your favour. Best maybe we go under the radar a bit , last season was poor but we proved difficult to beat back end. With Etebo back and after Saturday's first half we looked pretty good. If Ndiaye stays would be a huge bonus. Still worry re our lack of goals though. Is a long season but a first day win would be great. Nice fixture for us and a clean slate. C'mon

Up the Potters Ah yes - the "Boris Bounce". Let's hope it lasts longer for Stoke than it's ever likely to for the Tories.

The key could be home form. If we get that right and get thr bear pit back, that could defeat a lot of teams before they kick off.

I'm sorry to be a neggy-ninny but I'm afraid I just don't see it. Manager talks a good shop but I seem to recall following his appointment mid season he made us worse!
And we've lost Ryan, one of the major positive things we had.
We can't score. We can probably defend slightly better but now Ryan's gone that's up for debate again.
As with last season I fear it will transpire we are looking down the table rather than up it.

I am hopeful although my optimism is not based on any insights apart from the short clips I have seen
It is the lot of most supporters to hope for the best in August

I’ll probably skip the British museum for something a little sleazier up Soho way and then maybe grab some antibiotics on the way to the stadium. 😁 I used to nip into the Valley pub before Charlton games, but they’ve knocked the fucker down apparently.

Up the Potters Haven't felt as unenthusiastic going into a season since we were in the old third division TBH. Uninspiring manager with a poor record last season and (at best) mediocre signings.
