Does anyone swear by any? Anyone take them as a matter of course? In theory I guess that our food should supply everything, but perhaps we can't absorb some. Iron? Apparently if you take iron thinking that you need it, but don't, it can be bad for you. No sun, vitamin D. My son is into " the gym" and takes protein supplements, but is sensible, knows about steroids, but I thought that the incident below is tragic. 7news.com.au/news/health/young-mans-death-prompts-fathers-bid-to-ban-caffeine-supplement-powder-c-204573Any thoughts?

I have L-Carnitine, 2 a day as recommended. ILN are the make I buy. Good for the gym I find.
I have nothing like vitamins though, mainly being I don't need them. Only other thing I have is Grenade Carb Killa protein bars.

I think you've answered the question yourself, BJR " I guess that our food should supply everything..." And if it is not doing, then you need a change of diet but, from my uneducated point of view, food in the right portions is the answer, not powders, pills or potions.

I hate most vegetables so I take a multivitamin. I also take extra vitamins and minerals due to being on long term medications that are believed to leach them.

I’m addicted to supplements in the hope that one day I’ll find some that make me feel like I’m in the void in the late 90’s
I take metatone if I’ve got a cold or after. It definitely works
I take glucosamine because a study recently showed it can cut the risk of heart disease by a fifth
I take reishi mushrooms because I want a face like kim kardashian
You’ll find most supplements contain caffeine to give you a boost so you feel like they’re doing summat.

I'd say 95% of 'supplements' are complete horseshit, marketed at gym goers who will do anything to look like the people they see on programs such as Love Island.
Some are necessary for deficiency but deficiency means more than I don't eat right so I'll overcompensate with powers/pills.
I take Vitamin D and that's it.

A decent sized study too, think it was close to 500,000 people. Certainly more to look at in that regard to standardising as it was a purely observational study and I think it was quite short but still, promising.

It all depends on how good your digestion is and how much you sweat.

I take 1 iron tablet most days, i have a problem with Iron levels, my feretin store is low and I have to watch out as my red and white blood cells are below normal, and can go into anemia. I eat loads of greens, have green veg smoothies etc. as well, its just an issue I think maybe after having some intestines removed. If i have too much red meat my cholesterol goes up. I also take a vitamin D tablet in winter, vitamin d is in a lot of fish like salmon, tuna, but not enough.

I only take organic ashwagandha root and probio7 daily And RAW organic apple cider vinegar (if that's a suppliment)
I've tried many natural organic supplements over the last few years long term but those above seem to work for me
I'd add He-shou-wu to that too (it was great) but I stopped it as I'd read one or two rare reports of serious liver damage (but that seemed to be in young children who had an allergy to it)
Ashwagandha seemed a milder but safer bet
