We've still got to get at least 10 players out if we really sign the current 4 or 5 which we are assured are 'happening' and if at the same time Nathan is to achieve his stated aim of a smaller squad. Guess what I am saying is the situation is too fluid for a meaningful squad analysis. Once we've signed these 4 or 5 I guess it will be full on for the transfer team trying to get the out door swinging. And we'll hit the same barrier we have hit for the last 3 summers. Which is we have over paid both wages and transfer fee for several wasters and as for the ageing or inadequate players why the heck would anyone else want them if we don't? Spending money is easy, persuading people to part with money for players you don't yourselves want is difficult. At that point we'll start seeing a few financial write=offs and no doubt us trying to ship players out on loans. It's going to be another long and difficult summer and I can't see a happy ending try as I might

I don't see what the point is of that sort of analysis.
The best player in the world is 34 and will most likely still be that player for another 3-4 years.
Also it's showing that the players that are apparently 'past it' are actually the most used? I don't get its use here?
Analysis is great if it actually makes sense.

If Messi could head the ball then he would be as good as Ronaldo, not better.

If Messi could head the ball then he would be as good as Ronaldo, not better. That's a very weak argument. But I will leave it as they're both excellent, Messi is quite clearly better at a lot more things that Ronaldo is though and we're lucky to have them both

I'd rather have Ronaldo in my team than Messi. Lots of Stoke fans would. It says a lot. What is the 'a lot' then? There's very little difference between the two. In my eyes it's as below: Balance: Messi dribbling: Messi Finishing and passing: no real difference Right foot: Ronaldo Left foot: Messi Heading: Ronaldo Impact to team: Ronaldo Generally I'd say where Ronaldo comes out on top there's more distance between him and Messi than the other way around.

Finishing: Messi. He scores more goals per game Passing: Messi by an absolute mile. He has 50 more assists than Ronaldo in over 150 less games. Impact to team: Messi due to scoring more, setting up more, creating more.

Aren't Ronaldo's stats better when it's just La Liga counted?

Aren't Ronaldo's stats better when it's just La Liga counted? Probably for goals but that doesn't take Messi breaking through in that league does it? So that's a bit crap too.

The difference is too small anyway. Messi 1.06 & Ronaldo 1.07 respectively. And that was up until last season. I would say that your point only strengthens the argument for Ronaldo rather than Messi though. Ronaldo has proven his ability at Man Utd & Juventus which are both Elite football leagues. Also Ronaldo's CL stats are better! Plus he can head the ball. Also his hair is nice.
