The BBC sports journos had us down to top the championship...and we were the most inaccurate of all of their predictions...just confirms what I have always suspected, most of them report on our games without actually watching them www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football

Most people on here and Twitter had us down to walk the league.
I went for 11th and 62 points. So not bad.

I had us down to finish above the might of Blackburn, Preston, Sheffield Wednesday and Brentford with a team full of exceptionally well paid internationals. Silly me.

My travelling companions all had us down for "mid table" but one said 17th...which would have been spot on but for Birmingham's shenanigans

Only relegated by 3 points.
Kept Butland and Allen and Bauer and Ryan on Prem wages to great fanfare and only lost Shaq of note.
Signed on loan 2 defenders from an Everton side which finished 8th.
Shot an eye watering by championship standards 40 million on new players.
Poached a Championship specialist manager from under the noses of an arch rival at great cost.
It was the right call, we just screwed up big style, a truly woeful effort with the resources available to us.
I still have to pinch myself that it actually happened, but it did.

I went for midtable with the odd flirt with the playoffs. Even I was too positive.
Ouch.

During the middling-late prem years, I had quite a few strange dreams (nightmares) that we were back in championship and struggling in there. It was always nice to wake up and remember just how strong the club was and just how unlikely those nightmares were from becoming reality any time soon. It's obviously not the end of the world as, despite how much I love this club, there's things way more important than Stoke City - but it's quite fucking annoying that we did actually fuck up so horribly from such a position of strength, and then compounded that fuckup by being so terribly wank on our return to the 2nd tier.

I had us down to win every game by 3 or more goals.

In view of how average the Championship is, and nothing has changed my view on that, if anything is was even more wanky than I expected, with the quality in the squad we had we really should have walked it and it is an embarrassment that we didn't. I had us down at worst for top of the playoff spots.
Maybe it's about time I took off those rose tinted glasses!

They were lucky they didn't watch any, i was unfortunate enough to have seen most of last seasons....performances... Wish I could change places with you. Due to age and health, I'm now unable to attend matches, I'd give anything to be in your position and have a choice.Believe me, unless you are my age and have watched Stoke for as many years as I have, you haven't started to watch rubbish, but it was still Stoke rubbish and that does it for me. I can understand your frustration, but that goes with being a football supporter, regardless of which team you support. Keep the faith, lad, keep the faith!

I was commenting more in jest, than saying I haven't enjoyed watching them. Every team has it's up's and downs over the years and we have had some very low points. Like you say it's all about supporting your team whatever the results. I bet you can tell some amazing stories about match's you have seen. I hope your health improves and wish you a fellow Stokie all the best. I will keep supporting. Keep smiling
