Would love us to get the chance to shown our appreciation at the Stadium for all he gave us.

Boy oh boy, that's some catalogue of tragedy to deal with, respect to him for going public and sharing, others will find strength from this.
What an acquisition he was for Stoke City, when the historians paw through our 10 year tenure in the top flight his name will be front and centre of much of the good stuff, he put in the hard miles, I couldn't respect him more.

The word RESPECT can't even get near my thoughts about Jon Walters, he must have balls like an elephant to cope with all that and still go to work.. SJW you are simply one awesome human being. Hope you have far happier times ahead, you deserve them my friend.

Such a great lad. Really wish he hadn't just gone (like footballers do). I hope most people realise now what kind of player he actually was and the gaping hole he left behind having watched the way we've played over the last couple of seasons.

He was always useful and a grafter under Pulis but I actually think he often looked quite a good footballer under Hughes.

i'd get him back in the club in some sort of mentoring (or any) capacity.
He must be incredible to have around, and the more you see/hear/read about him, the more you cannot help but admire him as a human being, regardless if he'd played football or not.

He was always useful and a grafter under Pulis but I actually think he often looked quite a good footballer under Hughes. The myth of Jon Walters is that he wasn’t a good footballer. Because he was so committed and so old fashioned in his approach to the game people overlooked the fact that he was actually a decent footballer with outstanding footballing intelligence.

Yeah, despite his limitations he will go down as one of my all time faves
Right up there with Ric, Ethers and Ryan as my favourites from the perm league era
Seems to genuinely love the club aswell

Loved SJW a very good player and a legend for Stoke
sometimes over used by Pulis when form had deserted him but on his day, and for long periods, a superb premier league football player
my fondest memory - the players taken off in a snowstorm before half time and SJW looking a the crowd and the ref going WTF ????
( cant remember which game)
Hat trick against Liverpool too
and so, SJW never to be forgotten and warmly welcomed if he ever returned

His Stoke City legend status just keeps on growing, doesn't it? We had the honor of watching him be a wonderful servant for our club and now we get to see him being just a brilliant human being. Absolute top man.
I wonder if Nathan Jones realises how much the club would benefit SJW being part of the coaching staff. If not that, surely the club has to bring him in in an ambassadorial role or similar. Or even to replace Carto...

I can remember a time when sjw was getting dogs abuse on this forum, this made my mind up that the majority of posters on here do not go to the match as anyone inside the stadium would see the effort and no little skill sjw used to put in.

He was always useful and a grafter under Pulis but I actually think he often looked quite a good footballer under Hughes. It was a simple equation really. Better footballing manager means he was always going to play better. He massively excelled under Hughes. Walters was a vastly underrated player, in regards to his footballing intelligence and actual footballing ability. A lot of people saw him only as a grafter because of his role with Stoke under Pulis.

Sometimes similarly with Ireland. His supreme efforts both on and especially off the ball, were plain for all to see who attend games live. There was never one game when he didn't make every effort to perform, sometimes on one leg carrying injuries. I saw that interview live too. Top man SJW.

He was a great asset to the club, very sad day when he left. He scored some great goals for us but his semi-final long range goal was superb. He always gave 100% for the club and was a far better player and contributor to the team than he was given credit for.
Top man !

Top bloke and a top character. Really should have kept him instead of bringing in fucking Jese. Even though he wasn't the most technically gifted of players, I believe if he stayed last season (along with Glenn) they would have not allowed the shit show go unpunished and standards to drop and I reckon we might just have survived thanks those pair dragging an extra couple of percent out of those around them.
