So hang on a fucking minute, how the fucking fuck did this chancer start last week if we were looking to fuck him off? Absolutely shocking shower of shit! I don't fucking believe for one fucking second he has been fucked off just for his shit performance last week either! H RAF don’t sit on the fence 😎

Well, he sounds absolutely thrilled in that clip. I have never heard a new signing sound so depressed in all my life. Was thinking the same lol 😂 I remember Robert Huth looking the same then he won the Premier League and got a champions medal.

H The reaction of some of the crowd probably had a significant influence on events. Unless he started banging them in for fun (unlikely) he would have been on a hiding to nothing and a victim of the boo boys. He's been dog shit for Stoke since day 1, hope he never comes back.

26 years old, Bristol City is his 11th club! It would appear no one wants him for an extended period of time.
81 career goals isn't bad though.

His confidence was probably shot (again) after the booing. He probably thought sod it, can’t be doing this all over again. Best for both parties he moved on. We’ve kept him sharp and motivated so we can shift him more easily then the bomb squad faithful.

I honestly believe he asked to leave, it's the only thing that makes sense and you can't really blame him.
In the long run I think it's best for both parties but he'll score goals for Bristol that's for sure.

Afobe looks to me like someone completely out of love with football. I genuinely wouldn't have been surprised if he asked to leave, I said on another thread it's completely bizarre that he would start but also be our of the door less than a week later. Something must have shifted.

Just got to hope he does well enough for them to take up the option to buy now.
We can't afford for him to have another shit season, returning here completely unsellable and with his tail further between his legs, on 25k-a-week next June.

H He’s constantly talked about bringing in more of a cutting edge all summer, it’s clear he was wanting to bring in another striker, and when he has (Hogan) he’s allowed Afobe to leave on loan. He may have kept Afobe around but the crowd reaction to Afobe on Saturday has probably changed things.

Did it ever get mentioned what the option to buy fee is? Ideally it'd be closer to the £12 Million we paid but I'm thinking it will be something like £6/7 Million.
Need some return on him at least. Because I don't think he'll play for Stoke City ever again. And I definitely think he asked to leave. I don't think he hacked it last week and wanted out.

If Jones has done his homework, and he said he has, then he will know this had to happen. Rowett was booted for;
1. Poor results given the money and number of players recruited. 2. Turgid football driven by lack of confidence throughout the squad. 3. After blaming the fans we turned on him in no uncertain measure.
Since January Jones has overseen 3 wins in 25(?) & posse of new players, most of which admittedly need to be tested (1). But going on the first game it's Groundhog day. The first 10 minutes of the game show there something there to work with until Jack Blunderbuss showed up and dismantled it all (2).
So that left (3) to complete the piece. The reaction was aimed at Afobe when he was subbed but some of that was at the late timing and caught up the manager in it. Whether Afobe asked for a move or not, Jones can't go down the Rowett slippery slope or he'll be house hunting again by the new year.
All just my opinion of course.

Still glad he's gone though.

I think we always worry about these sort of things. We worried when we let go the likes of Beattie, Tuncay, Jones etc. But when we do let a player go for peanuts it's pretty rare they go on and do better elsewhere. It's only when they go for serious cash such as Arnie, Zonz do they go onto achieve more

At the end of the day it’s the right decision, he shouldn’t have been bought as a lone striker, whether it was a lack of confidence or he is just a little bit useless it was never going to turn around here. I’ve no idea why Jones started him on Saturday after he’d had the worst preseason of all the strikers. Hope he’s happier at Bristol and we can get a bit of money back. Another cutting out losses exercise but at least we’ve moved him on him which is best for both parties.

Season long loan with an option to purchase. After a massively underachieving period thank the Lord we've done something positive about Afobe. He was neither use nor ornament the way he was yet Jones seemed to feel obliged to play him because of his price tag. At least he's not around now so Jones can get on up front without this particular distraction. Can't jump, won't jump, slip'nslide, frequently on his arse, usually out of position, lacking bravery, lacking basic touch and control, this is the best move for sure. He either has a great season and Bristol buy him or if they don't his value will have risen or he may return to us a better player. If he fails again then we need to move Adonke on!
