No I’ve said I didn’t think he was ready and he wasn’t. Always emphasised too that there was clearly a player in there too. Rowett handled him really well. He needed time and was given that. Come on Bayern, “”Rowett handled him really well...”. Ffs. As McEnroe was know to say. You can’t be serious!!! Rowetts people handling skills were a large part of the reason he got sacked He did. He wasn’t ready at all when he first got here. He didn’t have a clue about shape. By February he was reading the game so much better, filling in at full back when they’d gone forward and just looked an intelligent footballer. Which he hadn’t done before. Going forward was never an issue but he added the defensive side to his game and basically covered his partners arse. His dribbling is ace but I love watching a clever midfielder who can spot danger before its happened and fill the space that it will come in. Delap did it brilliantly and watching Etebo from February was like watching Delap. You may see that as an insult but it really is as big a compliment I can give him.

You’ve said it numerous times. No I’ve said I didn’t think he was ready and he wasn’t. Always emphasised too that there was clearly a player in there too. Rowett handled him really well. He needed time and was given that. “Thick as fuck and runs a lot” were your words.

"Rowett kept us up" is the most brain dead comment I have ever heard! its impossible to make the assumption! if its Rowetts achievement keeping us up, its also Rowetts fault we came 16th, surely? I thought the kids were back at school? if, so put your phone away young'un and concentrate... my god you need to. I don't often agree with Bayern but on this one he's right - it isn't an assumption it's mathematically true. Jones's points per game record would have seen us in serious trouble - Rowett's points haul kept us out of any serious danger, That doesn't mean Jones is a worse manager - Rowett was working with his squad after a pre-season and Jones struggled to get that squad to play the way he wanted mid season, Jones should be judged on what he does next season after a pre-season with the squad he's shaped. Yep - Of course he's right. We got pretty much exactly what we paid for with Rowett - a manager who creates functional teams that finish in the comfortable environs in middle to upper Championship, or thereabouts. Not enought wit to be at the top, not bad enough to be at the bottom. We constructed a team capable of scoring, with a strong wind behind us, about 55 goals - appearing to place unwarranted faith in Beharinho, Bojan, Diouf to notch a signficant goals tally between them along with Ince and Afobe. I reckoned at the start of the season. on this basis, we were on for 9th to 14th too - and would have been i think pre Jones. You can make all sorts of arguments about the relative hands that Rowett and Jones got. On the one hand, Rowett spent a fortune. On the other, he took on the club at its absolute nadir - a time when we could well have imploded more than we did - having to handle the N'Diaye's and Beharinho's, and living with the cutlure created by others. Yet with the expectation on him that he do something with them from a board who have largely since admitted their own incredible delusions. For me, both have underwhelmed. Just because GR was poor, NJ doesn't get away quite that scott free with me - another 13m was spent in Jan and had 1/2 a season to coach a team of players with strong track records at this level. Clearly there are mitigating circumstances, but virtually all new managers inherit their new clubs with the expectatation to get better from what they've got - especially if they are being paid handsomely. While I didn't expect much results-wise, there is not much good that can be said for a notable backward step and the number of times "zero" appeared in our goals-for column. We do live in hope though that he can translate the potential others have seen in him - and he deserves his upcoming chance. I hold my breadth on that one because im not seeing signs yet of a Phoenix rising from the flames.

“Thick as fuck and runs a lot” were your words. And he was. “Etebo is part of a midfield that doesn’t function. He’s crap.” Also your words, tweeted two thirds of the way through the season. Does that answer your ‘where have I said I don’t rate him’ question?

And he was. It clicked around February, it didn’t mean I didn’t rate him. He was playing shit and the midfield wasn’t functioning. You won’t find me saying many good words about Clucas either but I rate him. And even with him in the side, the midfield didn’t function all season really!

He never and didn’t do that before. He showed he could learn and adapt which I like.

Did I imagine Scholes was here last time we were promoted then? Who was our Chief executive then? Almost certain he wasn’t on the board then and we didn’t have his right hand man in as well. Indeed Rudgey found Shawcross didn’t he? No idea on that tbh.
