Bloody hell. Hope he is okay. Was going to have a Doner Kebab tonight but I think I will get me trainers on and do a 5k run instead!

I think one day there will be studies condemning an over active life style.

Best wishes to him. I guess having one at the training ground with presumably great training facilities is the 'best' place to have a heart attack. Now he's stable in hospital, hopefully on the road to recovery

More bad news. Iker's wife Sara Carbonero has revealed that she has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. They have two young children. What a nightmare situation for their family.

I think the human heart doesn't like extremes. Extreme idleness and extreme exertion are both unhealthy. Too many people in developed countries are on the excessively idle end, and that causes a lot of heart problems. But the excessively active end is also not good. Think about the number of elite athletes that have died in their 20s from heart attacks.

How many have died who haven't got an underlying heart condition? Considering obesity causes 30,000 deaths each year in the UK, I think it's a pretty safe bet to make that exercising alot is a hell of alot better for you

It's all about knowing your anaerobic threshold, your Vo2 max and other blood and body functions and how to use them correctly in your exercise

It's all about knowing your anaerobic threshold, your Vo2 max and other blood and body functions and how to use them correctly in your exercise Sometimes the underlying heart defects can be exacerbated by over exertion. There is a medical condition called athletes' heart whereby the heart becomes abnormally large due to intense exercise. Athletes who develop it probably had a genetic predisposition for it, but it wouldn't have manifested itself without intense exercise. While the human heart wasn't designed to sit all day, it also wasn't designed for intense exercise all day. In the caveman days, people had be somewhat active to live, but they also had to try to conserve energy and fat. So it was beneficial for them to not be more active than they needed to be. Like most things, moderation is the best approach.
