Whatever happens we should be making a hefty profit on him when he does go. Vital he stays this season though.

I would rather keep Etebo. He’s got a big part to play in our midfield. We do need a striker like Gayle but not at the exspense of Etebo

On no planet in any universe would this be a good deal.

It's a no deal for me unless they chuck another 8 million in the deal

It's a no deal for me unless they chuck another 8 million in the deal I wasn’t suggesting a straight swap btw. I was just wondering if Newcastle did come calling there’s no doubt Etebo would favour such a move. Then would it be possible to include Gayle in any such deal. All hyperthetical obviously.

We need a good striker! They need a good midfielder. We take Gayle, they have Etebo plus pay us £10m, sorted.

So, let me get his straight....
A post headline, with an exclamation mark at the end as if some surprise news has come forward, complete with an article where Steve Bruce complimented our player for having a good game in Feb/March...leads to a complete guess that we will do a swap deal for Gayle based on absolute hypothetical theory and no evidence or rumour whatsoever.
Sweet Jesus. Scraping the barrel here folks!
I once mentioned to a mate that I quite fancied Emily Blunt having seen here in a good film. Maybe I can get a swap deal setup for her? Its the exact same logic....

Not interested in that "story" but thought the moment Bruce got the Newcastle job that he might come for Etebo.
It's just logic. He was very impressed when we played and he now is with a club that could make a realistic bid and be attractive to the player.
I don't want that to happen but it's very logical.

Can't help but be a little depressed at suggestions on various threads that we sell Etebo, trade him for Gayle, play him at LB, and even one suggestion as striker.
If there was any high-light to last season, it was the signing of Etebo. We secured an excellent player for an absolute steal under the noses of other clubs.
I am hugely impressed with him; not just his ability but his commitment on and off the pitch.
Now is the wrong time to let him go. He has just completed his first season in English football, It took him time to get started, which is usual for foreign players, remember Arni and Bojan took half a season to get going. He was our most consistently good player last season after his suspension.
This season he will be surrounded with players a lot more committed than last season, and guided by a clear strategy by the manager. He will be bursting with confidence after the African Nations Cup; whereas 12 months ago he was bound to have been apprehensive entering a new phase of his career in a foreign country.
Now is just the time for him to step up to the next level of performance, and I don't mean by playing for Newcastle. He is young enough to keep learning and improving and, if carefully managed, can help take Stoke back to the top tier.
You'll gather I will be very upset if the club let's him go.

Sheer madness if we let him leave this summer. Even more worrying that some fans would be willing to let him go. I still expect a team to come in for him before the window closes.

Ooh I dunno, I have teenage kids if of any use to anyone, they are kind of in the eat, grunt and cost money phase Wifey might not be happy so thats an option, she is a good egg and deffo has some residual value so it would be hard to let her go but Blunty might sway it Deffo off the table is my Playstation and telly.

It would be too reminiscent of the 80's, when we sold any promising players we had, like Bracewell, Heath and Chamberlain. I think he's our best player by a mile.

If there is one player we should be building a team around, it is Etebo.
