Edwards Verlinden Collins
Potentially
Campbell Souttar
Providing a bloody long overdue connection between fans and players.
Long may it continue.
Edwards was excellent today.

Verlinden signed from Standard Liege While he’s not exactly local, he more than meets the criteria to be “homegrown” having been at the club for four years now.

Edwards Verlinden Collins Potentially Campbell Souttar Providing a bloody long overdue connection between fans and players. Long may it continue. Edwards was excellent today. You can add Bursik, Tymon, Jarvis, Sorensen, Dunwood to the list of players that have been included in the extended matchday squad or have had minutes in the first team, or with Bursik, who's an u-19 international player as proof that we certainly have a lot of youth prospects knocking on doors. However of those 10 players only Edwards can "provide a connection between fans and players" as he's the only one who has stood in the stands as a boy. But just seeing him there could encourage other youths, so hopefully he'll be the first of a number of local players.

When will Ollie Shenton get a chance ? Never, is the quick answer.
He'll sign for a National League team or League 2. But he's not going to break into Stoke's team any time soon.

Why not, he is better than McClean; doesn't say much, I know, but the latter gets picked all the time.

For me the one chink of light in this journey to nowhere is seeing the youngsters come through. If NJ can create a blend of old heads and fearless young players then I reckon that's the way he'll go. One of the best thing about young players is that they don't carry any baggage with them... ergo thinking they're better than they are because they once played 'wheresoever'.

I guess Jones will be the ultimate judge, but Ollie is now reaching an age where he needs to be playing regular football. Campbell and Verlinden are 2 years younger. If Ollie was going to break into the team, he needs to do it very soon. Unfortunately I don't think it's going to happen.

He's playing regular football every week, at a lower level obviously, but he's been playing alongside Verlinden among others, and there's nothing wrong with Thibo obviously. He is the captain of a decent academy side, but as Allen and Etebo have been ever presents, with Woods and Clucas on standby for suspensions, Ollie hasn't had much of a chance. Everyone seems to agree that Allen, Etebo, and Woods will be leaving in the summer. No doubt Jones plans to bring in replacements, but if they don't work out, there could yet be an opening for Ollie.
