I think we saw last night how much we miss Ince sometimes. They attacked Edwards who had no cover from Afobe but also was given the runaround all night. They closed us down and stopped Allen and Etebo making space. Some awful decisions but also some awful performances. Edwards, Etebo and Clucas were desperately poor. The Indi sending off was a terrible decision but not a surprise considering some of the cards he produced but Edwards was a red card waiting to happen. Can't blame the Centre Backs as did ok for me under constant bombardment and with 9 men we dug in. Oh well, on to Saturday. Will be an interesting looking team with perhaps a couple of inexperienced players but be a good game to blood them. Little to play for and a home crowd. Given the need to get last night's performance out of our system I doubt if we will see many inexperienced players on Saturday Butland Bauer Shawcross or Williams Batth Clucas Allen Etebo Verlinden Bojan or Afobe McLean Vones Thinking more injuries and suspensions. We could be without 4 or 5 players so we may have little choice. Indi and Edwards are out..Shawcross and Ince maybe

I missed the game Tuesday being away on holiday and have just watched the highlights.
It appears Swansea ripped us a new one and all our old defensive frailties returned. We got away lightly considering the number of free shots they had in our penalty area. Their first goal was exceptional though, the trajectory of the ball was yards left of the post when James hit it and it bent like a banana. It took a brilliant goal to break our run of clean sheets. We seemed to have returned to not defending the far post with CBs leaving it and Butland not coming for it.
One thing I didn't like was when the players walked onto the pitch at the start one of our players was exchanging (friendly*)remarks with one of theirs. * judging from the smiles. Call me old fashioned, but when you go onto the field of play the opposition are the enemy to be defeated, not chatted with. Be as friendly as you like in the bar afterwards.
Lessons: 1. Edwards was seriously exposed and will benefit from the enforced rest. 2. We are toothless without Bojan - but is anyone listening? We are always better when he starts, even in the matches we lose.
