I was only thinking on Saturday that he's better than Wimmer in every way that counts and yet cost a quarter of the disastrous Austrian.

Building on the likes of him is exactly what gets you promoted...

How many "big" money signings have actually come off?!... Shaqiri did it on an inconsistent basis and Crouch was a good solid pro but I'm struggling after that?!... The £2-6m pound player has been a lot better for us. Arnie, Ethers, Beattie, Huth, N'Zonzi, Ab Faye, Adam, Butland, Erik (before he went a bit toss) and there's prob loads more.

I have always advocated looking at lower league players with hunger to improve and real desire to get better.. I think irrespective of any financial situation Jones would be the type to do that. He will have by his standards a big budget, but I am very optimistic he will use it more wisely than previous have. Will be interesting come the summer who his first few signings will be..When does the window open & close this season?

I was pretty underwhelmed at the time, but you've got to say he's been excellent so far and looks a really well-judged signing, especially at the price The Pizza Boys are doing quite well with him and Etebo.

An outstanding signing so far, defensively he's good, but he's like Taggart in that he makes everyone else so much better too.

Immense again today was Danny. After we made Danny Graham look like a world beater at the Bet365, Batth must have had to help Graham out of the back pocket of his shorts when the game was done today - a proper stopper.

15 goals conceded in the 11 games before he joined. 5 goals conceded in the 11 games he's played.

Outstanding again today. He is exactly what we needed, a real leader, an organiser, someone who can do the nuts and bolts yet motivate those around him. I had doubts about him, but im glad to say he has proven me wrong. 6 clean sheets in a row shows how much of an influence he has been.

Just imagine how different the season could have been if we had signed him in the summer instead of hanging around for Chester from Villa and then been forced into a last ditch loan for Williams?

And Pulis didn't rate him?!.. a definitive sign he has well and truly lost the plot.

Top drawer defensively, just what we have been lacking. However, and its a small however, he is no Beckenbaur, three times today he made runs out with the ball and got caught in posession which could have cost us. Its obviously a game plan as Etebo and Allen dragged men away to create space to allow Danny to make those runs. Cue a ball playing centre half in the summer to complement him.

Nathan Collins and harry souttar are both the ball playing CB you refer to. I can’t see a money signing coming in at cb unless indi goes

Didn't rate him enough to be a regular though?! I suppose that have a couple of decent CB's but I thought Batth would've been right up his street. An old school head it and kick it type.

Ryan is not a leader and never has been. Huth and Higginbottom were his rocks for a couple of seasons under pulis. Ryan's game has always suffered when he has had to lead the line and organise others, great centre half when free to concentrate on defending only. No detrement to Ryan, just not a leader.
