The Bojan detracters notable for their absence.....it's all gone quiet over there, haha! His first good game for us for seasons and you get carried away! I really hope he will come good for us again as that is money saved for the club, but I still want to see him perform constantly at a high level before I get too carried away. The jury is still out for me, but he played well yesterday even though I think some people thought his display was a bit better than it really was, 7/10 in my opinion.

Butland 6 - made a good save when called upon Bruno 7 - solid defensively Baath 8 - commanding presence again Shawcross 7 - never looked troubled Edwards 8 - excellent going forward, unlucky not to score 1st half Allen 8 - average first half, very energetic second Etebo 9 - best player on the pitch, MOTM mcclean 2 - struggled to read the game, should have been subbed earlier Ince 6 - great through pass to bojan but he gave away possession too often Bojan 8 - inspiring positive performance, unlucky not to score Afobe 6 - made some good runs first half but seems to run out of ideas in the penalty area, which is worrying for an expensive striker. Unlucky not to score with the only header he won
Verlinden 6 - looked lively but was well marshalled by Palmer. should have started instead of JMac Diouf 1 - raced around like a man possessed, but I don’t remember him actually touching the ball

He's played well (far better than his teammates) pretty much every time he's featured this season.

Butland 7, not much to do, but handled everything that came. Edwards 8, really starting to convince me now! Shawcross 8, not much to complain about here. Batth 8, same as Shawcross. Indi 7, very solid defensively, but as a fullback he should contribute more going forward. Allen 8,5, thought he was everywhere! Etebo 8,5, same as Allen, Ince 7, always involved when we create something. Bojan 7, better than in a long time. McClean 4, runs a lot, but that's it. Awful decision making at times! Afobe 5, doesn't look like the answer up front. Verlinden 6, positive on the ball without being as good as last time. Diouf 5, worked hard, but no end product. To summarize the thread, Ince,Adobe, McClean = crap. Everyone else looking good! No wonder we can’t score when everyone up front is crap.

A lot of people seem eager to critisise Ince at every opportunity, but in fact he is our only attacking option making good attacking runs. He is also involved every time we have a good creative move going forward. I really think he gets a lot of undeserved stick. A lot of people are raving about Bojan's performance yesterday, and he played well, but he wasn't more involved than Ince when it comes to what we created of dangerous situations. Watch the game again without being biased and you'll hopefully see what I see.

Etebo was exceptional yesterday. Real drive and purpose from the midfield.
Mention to Edwards too who has been great the last few games.
Hopefully we can keep the majority of what we have over the summer.

Ince created 2 potential goal scoring situations (for Bojan & baath), and had a shot blocked, so I wouldn’t disagree, although Edwards was also a potent threat down the right wing yesterday. The fact that JMac and Bruno (who to be fair isn’t a LB) create the square sum of jack shit down the left means that by default there’s a lot of pressure on Ince to deliver every game. I’d like to see Verlinden start every game until the end of season in place of mcclean on the left. Hopefully that should balance things out.

Not sure Baath can score particularly highly to be fair. Cost us 2 points by missing an absolute sitter.

The way I see it, both him and McClean end up breaking down our attacking moves about 75% of the time. McClean because he does something stupid, and ince because he turns around and makes a mazy dribble back to our own half. I actually think if we combined McClean and Ince, we’d have a halfway decent player on our hands!

I'm not a big fan of McClean myself as I really think he isn't skillful enough for a promotion chasing team. In addition his decision making is awful in my opinion. This also makes it more difficult for Ince as our oponents know where the threat will come from, and it's often easy to double up on Ince. Despite of this he has been our most creative player all season, and Ince is skillful enough to play for a team chasing promotion. I also think Afobe doesn't make the sensible runs too often so again we rely on Ince. You could watch yesterday's game as a reminder just to see Ince is our only player running into the channels to receive the ball in an attacking position. I really can't understand all the stick Tom Ince gets on this board, and I really think he has become a scapegoat for many supporters.

I really can't understand all the stick Tom Ince gets on this board, and I really think he has become a scapegoat for many supporters. We’ll have to disagree. I just watched the 10 minute highlight video. Ince touched the ball 7 times. Once losing the ball in a dangerous area, twice fluffing opportunities for others, once simply passing the ball onward to Bojan, once creating Baath’s opportunity and twice doing nothing. By comparison, Verlinden touched the ball 6 times creating 3 dangerous situations in the few minutes he played. Even Shawcross made a more dynamic bursting running than the wilting wallflower that is Ince. He is not the answer and unless he dramatically steps up his game, I see him as only marginally better than McClean. Overall I hope he is not here next season and we get a capable replacement.
