Maybe there are two sides to every story but that wouldn't suit the established viewpoint. Always amazes me when judgements and opinions are based on knowing few, if any, of the circumstances surrounding the issue. He possibly has many of the character faults as many folk describe here but fans' opinions are not based on evidence of these faults, just the gut, mob reaction to someone perceived as having 'disrespected' the club. War was declared on him and, as has been often said, 'truth is the first victim of warfare'. You're gonna be in for a massive shock if you read this little thing called "Human history"

So I pointed out to them that the north had contributed greatly to our culture through football, music, art & comedy. Yes, all this in a dream. Some deep rooted inverted snobbery in there. Anyway, enough of that. Get on the war waggon of hateXx

You are entirely correct in everything you say - however 50% of the posts on this message board would disappear if people didn’t get their chance to stick the ‘cyber boot’ in to some poor sod so don’t expect any empathy.

I swear I walked past him yesterday in Bristol on my way to work. Guess not if he was on the radio.

Has sanctimony reached such a point on here that we’re now expected to feel sympathy for Steve fucking Cotterill?!

If he'd got a manager job in the Premier League we wouldn't have liked it but it would have been more understandable. Instead he went to be assistant at a sinking ship under the tutelage of a has been. My thoughts entirely Joe. Could have made a real name for himself at Stoke. Instead buggered off to be no more than the tea boy. Has done the rounds at a few clubs but nothing sensational. A disappointing human being.

I think it’s just another case where we know the square root of bugger all about what went on behind the scenes. Bit like the current Cartwright/Scholes blame game.

I think it’s just another case where we know the square root of bugger all about what went on behind the scenes. Bit like the current Cartwright/Scholes blame game. We know what was reported, which is plenty to go on. I don’t doubt there were difficulties with working for the Icelanders - every manager who worked for them found that. Others dealt with it considerably better. It’s funny how it didn’t seem to be much of a problem until Wilkins fluttered his eyelashes at him. Cotterill even at the time gave every appearance of being a nakedly self-serving careerist and just like Arnie’s ‘ambition’ comments later proved, this is just him trying to point fingers to excuse his own behaviour.
