Why do some people do this sort of thing? Any physical assault is disgusting. But this appears to be a random attack for no apparent reason - I can't even begin to work out the mind set of whoever did it - what sort of person gets their kicks this way? Well done to Mrs M for doing what she could to help her husband. I wish them both a full and speedy recovery and, hopefully, the satisfaction of seeing their attacker(s) convicted.

Anyone remember when we played Coventry at the Brit when he was their manager? We had an appalling ref that day (and I think there might even have been a fan got onto the pitch to have a go at him) and after the game our manager (GT, Quitters or TP?)had a go at the ref in his post match interview and Gary backed him up and said he was one of the worst managers referees he had seen that season. Top bloke is Gary.

The stokie in question was a man of peace and was far from violent he just told the ref he was disappointed with his performance. I think he got banned for two years.

Yes, I don't normally argue with bans for fans going on to the pitch to confront a player or the ref but I thought, in that case, the ban was OTT. I'd have let him off with a caution - but, at most, a ban to the end of the season should have been sufficient.

Hope he's ok...always seemed a decent bloke ,McAllister not the pub idiot
Lakeland- was Pulis and McAllister and the ref was Andy Hall. He was atrocious

He was atrocious I was possibly in the same pub - I was living in York at the time - but the game at Elland Road was I think France v Spain. Manolo (the bloke with the drum) was certainly in attendance. Presumably by that time (96) McAllister had moved on, but he was absolutely key to the Leeds championship winning side, so it is unfathomable why any Leeds fan would have been abusive. The assault speaks for itself. Very, very sad.

Could well have been France as was at a couple of Spain games, France and Bulgaria.Next thing some Stoke fans will be getting in Joe Allen's back when playing for Wales 😌

That game was against Wolves! George burley watched our game v watford. He left at half time and we were 0-2down. I've always wondered if he saw how dreadful we were and realised he'd be biting off more than he could chew.

He went fucking ballistic with me, but we are still friends now...
