Not seen a thread about this on here so thought I'd share my thoughts and start a bit of a discussion on the topic. Firstly I thought that the lads in the corner gave it a real good go at generating a sustained atmosphere. It felt like a breath of fresh air hearing and participating in a variety of songs, instead of just go on Stoke every few minutes Secondly for me there wasn't much visibility that this was going to happen for the Reading game. Where was it advertised / how do we join in with the fun? As good old Nathan Jones would say we need more people to 'buy into it' and get behind the lads regardless how toothless we are. Up the mighty potters!!!

Compared to the family stand a morgue has more atmosphere, itโs shameful

About 75 of us gave it a go. We loved it. An away day buzz at another otherwise boring home match! A couple of new songs and the kids in the corner seemed to enjoy it, joining in a fair few times.
As was said before, nothing gimmicky or too contrived... just likeminded folk getting together in a way not easy to do in all ticket matches in all seater grounds.
It might grow, it might not but we'll try to offer something for those interested.
God forbid we let matchdays just be about the result!

I was in block 30 and could hear it. Constant noise makes for a much more enjoyable match atmosphere - well done.

I was sat just in front of them for a one off. Not quite sure some of the choice language in the songs suits the area. It might be a one off but there were loads of very young children in there with the 5 quid ticket deal the club were doing, with about 50 blokes behind them singing the "When the Stoke go down.." song.
A couple of parents picked their kids up and moved away, some of them not returning for the second half.
I thought it was a good atmosphere to be fair and for a change, some imaginative songs.
Think it needs tweaking going forward.

Loads of folk on Twitter have actually described the opposite effect... kids loving it and some parents with little ones moving near us. Saw some such examples myself. But you're right it's early days and we'll have to modify stuff carefully. Just so bloody difficult in the circumstances.

It is difficult because of how the ground is laid out etc. The inevitable reduction in season tickets might come at the right time though. Personally I think the Family Stand should either be in the other corner by the Boothen End or in the Q Railing lower tier by the big screen, which would open up that entire corner for a singing section. Not my decision though

Quite alot of people have said they want join us for next time ๐ hopefully be able do it again before the season finishes.

I'm finally back in Stoke after 7yrs away. Went to my first match in 7yrs and I was mortified by the lack of atmosphere. I remember we used to cheer everything even if we were 2-nil down! I remember a constant 'oh when the reds...' for 15minutes, a proper delilah at least once per half, booing and hissing every touch by the opposition. Saturday... None of that, at all. The only time the whole stadium got behind a chant was aimed at the referee ONCE. IT'S SHAMEFUL. I get that we've had hard times, I get that we ain't premier league, but just think how many points THAT atomsphere once got us. Even if it was 10pts it gained us this season that's the doorstep of playoffs...

The youngsters are the future Well said, as long as they are brought up in the correct culture, the modern culture and not the culture of fighting and racial abuse which was the norm when I was first a supporter in the early 70's. We must encourage young support, I take a 16 year old to the matches because we we need to encourage the next generation. It is family entertainment (or will be when the goals start coming)

Are there any plans to make this a permanent feature next season, ie moving season tickets?

Are there any plans to make this a permanent feature next season, ie moving season tickets? Nothing concrete mate. Still very early days. Might be that we try something monthly next season perhaps. Organising a permanent singing section might be difficult but we'll see. When we win 15 games in a row at the start of next season, we won't even be needed!

Saw some kids on row 1 of the south stand bouncing up and down with there arms swinging everywhere, which was great to see. Lots of these kids might bugger off and support United on TV If they see boredom was the norm regarding atmosphere.
Itโs massively important, as they are the future.

We need to extend the family stand, and not reduce it. We need to encourage more families and bigger families to games. Mum's, Dad's and grandparents. The club also need to relax some of the rules they have in that area too.
