When I saw the bloke that was on the streets because he’d tried to hang himself, got it wrong, making himself partially disabled, while he was in hospital his landlord gave him an eviction notice and he’d been on the streets since it stopped me in my tracks a bit.
The holes in the safety nets in this country are getting wider and wider. He seemed like a bright bloke, didn’t drink or do drugs, obviously got mental health issues and no family support.

It's a disgrace what's going on at the moment. The tories couldnt give a fuck about anyone bar their own voter base and anyone who votes tory would sooner pay lower taxes and have 3 cars on the drive and several foreign holidays a year than pay taxes to pay for the public services which even they might need one day.

I think you'll find that the Tories have put taxes up since 2010 apart from the lower paid with much higher than inflation rises in minimum wage together with hikes in the personal allowance. Such a shame that Labour left off with that note saying there was no money left together with their flagship PFI projects on the never never.
Where it goes wrong is mental health services which like housing have been neglected by successive governments for far too long.

My father voted Tory all his life till he was dying & then he realised just this

They are ALL as bent as each other. If there were guarantees of where monies would be spent, a good number of people would not mind paying a bit more tax. I begrudge trusting them with every penny I pay.

The problem goes far deeper and won't be solved by throwing money at it but I agree something needs to be done to ease it The REAL problems start in childhood: abuse, neglect, poor role models, even worse attachments that lead people into bad relationships, poor choices and unhealthy habits To undo this would take an enormous effort but this government came in and shut down the Sure Start projects encouraging families to engage better with children at a crucial and formative age. This was a short-sighted, naive and ignorant act of folly that saved a few billion short-term but does nothing to eradicate poverty - financial, emotional and philosophical - but instead maintains the cycles that lead to homelessness

Awful.
Homelessness has gone up 169% since 2010.

Awful. Homelessness has gone up 169% since 2010. What has been the population growth in percentage terms since 2010 ?
And
What level has the housing stock grown in that period also ?

You tell me. I think it cuts to welfare and social support. I welcome your argument other wise

I agree with you, you wont get an argument from me, but there are many factors at work here.
