I think the people surrounding him and goading him are even bigger twats. I can understand Pickford not wanting to sit back and take the abuse. As a professional footballer of the status he's found himself in this last year or so Pickford should simply not have put himself in a situation where he can easily become embroiled in such an incident he clearly can't control himself in. Put yourself on a pedestal be prepared to get shot down.. Goading is part and parcel of the game especially if a pro footballer gets seen out, either deal with it better or choose your night out locations better. He always comes across to me as a bit simple. I know most footballers aren’t the brightest, but I think hes on a different level. I also dont think he’s that good a keeper, certainly not deserving of the hype.

Love to see how a few on here would react being subject to that sort of abuse. He's only 25, I think people very easily forget that. Easy and have done it. Only 25??!! Lads join the army at 16 and learn discipline, how old do you have to be to be able to have a level of tolerance & not get drawn into stupid needless situations? As a player in this day and age earning the money they do, surely it's easy to avoid getting caught up in stupid situations like this & learn abit of self control and discipline..

I've had dickheads shouting much more offensive crap than "butterfingers" in my face before (starting at a much younger age than 25) and I've never thrown a punch at anyone in my life, nor do I intend to. If he reacted in self-defence and the other guy lashed out first, fair enough.

I imagine he gets it everywhere, every time he goes out, regardless of who he's with - It would get to the nicest person in the world (which I'm not saying he is). If you poke a dog enough times, it's going to bite. The guys provoking him are arseholes.

Happens in every town centre every weekend on numerous occasions without fail.
The lad who’s snapped this time just happens to be Pickford.
As has been said, you can only put up with pisstaking for so long, complete non-story, anyone who says they’d turn the other way at a continued barrage of abuse is a liar, add being pissed into the mix and you get that.

But I honestly don't think it excuses him starting a physical fight (if he did start it). He's not some teenager with no life experience, he's a grown adult.

From what I have read he took the 'bantz' in good nature, it was later on when someone had a pop at his fiancee it kicked off. He has every right to go out and enjoy himself like anyone else, regardless of his salary. If dickheads think its funny to wind people up they run the risk of getting smacked, the rest is down to the laws of the land and he should be treated no differently to anyone else.

Of course he does, I'm certainly not someone who thinks people who earn more should have to put up with abuse. What happened with his fiance, I haven't read about that? I hope she wasn't badly hurt.

Move on, its harder to do that than take the bait but easily the better option. Alot of people do. For every Ryan Shawcross, Joe Allen, or Harry Kane you'll get a Saido Berahino, Jordan Pickford or Jermaine Pennant! Some people can walk away from grief some attract it & end up in bother!

He's as shit in a fight as he is in goal. Like that kid at school who thought because he was good at football he was hard as nails. Perhaps he thought he could scare them with his hyper-aggressive gum chewing routine...

Perhaps, as a highly paid professional athlete, he shouldn't be out late at clubs etc. I don't suppose Mo Farah did, or Roger Federer, or Andy Murray, or Chris Hoy, or Steve Redgrave, etc etc.

The knobheads who were chucking childish abuse at him turned on his missus and started abusing her. Ever likely he flipped, I don't know a single bloke who wouldn't.

The athletes listed probably didn’t go out because they’re boring twats, Federer is undoubtedly the greatest tennis player of all time, but would you go for a pint with him? It’d be like spending an evening staring at a petri-dish.

Bet the police are pissed of at the press this is getting. They are trying to stop proper crime without having to spend time Sorting out a little scuffle that probably happens in all towns at a weekend in the pub/nightclub areas.

I know he gets a bit of a bad press at times but Barthez with his quick distribution was superb Watching Banksy at his funeral in his day he threw the ball out within seconds time after time. Keepers used to be untouchable and came for everything winning free kick after free kick when they failed.Foxy was small compared to modern keepers but commanded the box miles better. Its a dying art coming and catching a football today they even punch shots clear rather than catch, no longer goal keepers just shot stoppers now. How the hell did you watch Banksy at his funeral ???

I agree with your post to a degree but having high class or profile jobs brings extra responsibility with it & whether it's right or wrong the more in the public eye they are the more they need to accept their going to need to keep a low profile & avoid putting their heads above the parapet. Footballer's in this day & age are completely different icons to what they were in the 70's & 80's & are now in completely different times of social acceptance & the trouble generally comes with technology being what it is these days. As soon as someone in a responsible or high profile job in this day & age steps out of line someone will be there to film it on their mobile & the next day it'll be in the press. Is it really worth it? The Ben Stokes saga is a prime example of this & how a night out with a few mates can go seriously wrong. Had Stokes not been a famous cricketer, would the press have been as interested in a few lads having a tussle & shouting match in a back alley?! Players can still go out & have fun time if they so choose but they just need to pick their surroundings a little better & do their best to avoid conflict & negative press. As ive mentioned other players can do it & have done it fine without any incident. Whether theres more to the Pickford incident than the vid picks up will remain to be seen but either way it's not done him any favours

What worries me most is not a bit of handbags, more the fact that this year he has made the most errors of any goalkeeper in the prem and is about as safe as a split condom.
A great excuse to give Heaton or Butland a run in the team.

Both sides are dickheads, being dickheads, doing dickhead things. Pickford should’ve been the bigger man but wasn’t, and the people winding the poor lamb up are clowns too.

Anyone would react to that, anyone. Imagine being that fucking weird goading a sportsman, bet they all wanked over it in their shit group chat the morning after as well. No doubt a bunch of spice boys with financed BMW’s and spray on shirts, see the same wankers in every city every weekend.

They were aiming abuse at him and then started on his missus. So I'd like to ask all the folk on here slagging him off one question.... Would you stand for it if you were him? I would have smashed the fuckers face in but I’m not Jordan Pickford he would probably have gone to hit him and missed. But yes you are correct But he shouldn’t have put himself in that position given his current status !

Its like hes trying to throw his England career in the toilet. It couldnt be more perfectly placed for Jack to get a move to a solid prem team and push onto England.
Already got mates loading up on him on footballindex waiting for the move. He's gunna be available for 10-15mill the way we're going too.
