In other news!..former Stokie Martin Carruthers loses his job.
Bit harsh after 2 promotions in 4 seasons and sitting 9th in the Northern Premier.

I just looked at the Northern Premier (National League North) table and was surprised to find so many ex League teams in there. Stockport County, Bradford Park Avenue (going back many years), Altrincham, Kidderminster Harriers, Chester (or re-incarnation of the club), Boston Utd, Southport, York City, Darlington, and Hereford ((another re-incarnation)'.

Altrincham? Possibly confusing them with Aldershot?

Possibly confusing them with Aldershot? No, it must just have been a senior moment . I read Altrincham and for some reason thought of Macclesfield Town - I think a lie down in a dark room is called for

New head coach at Ilkeston Town

New head coach at Ilkeston Town That's a very good job for non-League He did a great job at Basford, took them through the Leagues, though in non-League (& Basford fall into this category) teams can get bankrolled and its not difficult to get promotions if you are getting access to players who are used to playing 2/3 divisions higher and on higher wages than the opponents. At Ilkeston he's got a very strong fanbase. The club has been totally mismanaged by dodgy owners but now he'll have decent resources. They get close to a 1000 for some games, so though he's dropped a division he's at a club that has great potential.

Interesting. Looks like its due to a bad start. Though is hardly disastrous after 6 games. Interesting club though. Ive been to games there and they probably consider themselves one of the big boys of their Division getting crowds up to 1000, so it could be just inflated expectation levels? (surprise, surprise!) I know that the guy who brought Carruthers to the club (from Basford) had left some months ago so maybe the new people were looking for an excuse?

They’d just beaten Matlock in the FA Cup last Saturday after a poor start in the league www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/martin-carruthers-ilkeston-manager-stoke-7552251.amp

He did have good backing at Basford and Ilkeston though.

Wonder how many of our fans grew up thinking his first name was actually ferfuxache. The nearly man of his era.. He nearly got his head on that one. He nearly curled the ball into the net. He nearly stayed on his feet there.. He tried his best though..

Home friendly against real sociedad in 94 I think. Bost the net with a 25 yard strike. Me and me brother were temporarily impressed. That was the best thing he did at Stoke. Ah well.
