Fuck me drunk, i must have been to a different game Allen and Etebo gave monster performances today I just find that our game grinds to a halt when he gets the ball as he has got no confidence to move the ball forwards , it's always sideways or backwards, he doesn't look to link with players going forward. He was better today in that he didn't get knocked off the ball as easily as he usually does. Defensively he was fine today. But no link up play going forward, no creativity doesn't help our cause offensively. Etebo tries to move forward though that doesn't seem his natural game, but at least tries. Our game changed for the better when Adam came on. It was a good win, but a very poor game, 2 poor teams imho. He was playing as the holding midfielder today. It wasn’t his job to be creative.

Cannot believe the high marks for Allen.
What did he do apart from run around a bit and play the ball backwards?did he play one ball forwards?...ok maybe 1 then!!! JB - 7 .....fine TE - 6 .....wish he could pass BMI - 6...thought the was ok but could have been better in possession RS - 7 .....looked on it DB - 6 ok but some useless punts from the back JA - 6 ....has he ever heard of passing a football forward? TI - 6 ...decided to turn up for the last 15 minutes to show us his glimpses...he's got talent when he feels like it. BK - 6 ...started ok but faded and lost confidence SC - 6 started well but faded then improved in the last 15 PE- 7.5...our best player by a mile....actually tries to go forward and great goal BA - 6 great finish for the goal, but not great at holding the ball generally CA - 7.... looked decent when he came on JM - 6.....like his energy but can't match it with skill or technique Fuck me drunk, i must have been to a different game Allen and Etebo gave monster performances today Was wondering if it was just me, can’t remember the last time Joe played that well. Said on another thread that he was MoM, the amount of their play he disrupted was incredible

Anyway, I gave him a 6...thats a very decent mark imho. 24 of his passes went forward, 19 backward and 17 square. A holding midfielder’s job is to keep it simple and recycle possession. Which he did, starting off attacks and protecting the back four. You just don’t like him.

Butland 7.5 2 or 3 good saves otherwise it was a quiet day Edwards 7 turned up today, I was impressed even though I've been a big critic Shawcross 8 looked great, so much better when playing alongside somebody who has good positioning Batth 8 classy performance BMI 7, drifts inside too much - very solid and won the ball well though Ince 6.5 did well for the assist, but gives the ball away cheaply and goes missing Etebo 8 did alright today, again poor decision making but took his goal well Allen 6 ran around... Clucas 6 - worked hard didn't do much Bojan 5.5 Massive fan of his but wasn't ever really in the game Afobe 8.5 MOM Adam 7 corner delivery was excellent and mixed it in the middle nice McClean 5 meh. So true about Shawcross - it's been the same for the whole of his career, he's always needed someone else to read the game to free Ryan up to do what he does best - if he can continue to build an effective partnership with Batth and stay fit, he really could surprise us with a couple more good seasons. If he chooses to stick around that is, it's his call obviously.

6 for Ince today is ridiculous in my opinion! Yeah, and that's fine...... It just wasn't rediculous in ours!!! People see things differently, personally I don't think he was worthy of anything higher than a 6, but that's my opinion!!! Ince had moments where he was an 8+ but for much of the game he was a 5. Over the full 90 mins I would agree a 6.

Both Allen and Etobe were the glue today especially before the substitutions. There were two players in front of them (you know who they were) that were anonymous which placed additional pressure on their jobs of to defend and create.
Clucas’s also did a lot of “unnoticed” work and playmaking

Clucas’s also did a lot of “unnoticed” work and playmaking People on here don’t see any of the “unnoticed” work though - unless your the one running on the goal or making massive tackles every 5 mins you’re shit. Don’t seem to see the work that goes on across the team to make that happen Don’t understand how anyone is getting slated on here today. Even Ince and Afobe redeemed themselves in the last 20 mins. Everyone needs to get a fucking grip of themselves. Much improved performance. Good result. And most importantly a lot more effort shown by all.

Ince assisted both goals. But that doesn’t mean he played well throughout. Poor at times, good at times. 6 for me. Ince is not my favorite player and he didn’t do much - except have an assist on both goals, which means he did his job. 10/10.

6 for Ince today is ridiculous in my opinion! I initially put him as a 5 but his cameo at the end got him an extra point. Ince was below par for a good hour today. Started well then disappeared as a creative force until the last part of the game. He did work harder than of late though. As for Afobe I thought he was terrible but his goal was great - and he can be crap every game if he scored goals - Opinions eh

9 for Afobe, Ince, Etebo, Bruno, Edwards, Baath, Shawcross, Allen. Everyone else 8. The whole team worked hard and it was our best 90 minute team performance of the season. The abuse for Ince by some on this thread is pathetic after today’s performance.

Butland 9, clean sheet, didn't have much to do but did what he had to do well. Edwards 9, very close to MOM probably his best game in a Stoke shirt. Shawcross, 9 Ryan at his best had the forets no 9 in his poscket. Batth 9, very good defensively. Indi 7, solid defensively but didn't offer much going forward. Ince 8, frustratingly average for 60 minutes superb for 30. Etebo 9, very good him and Allen bossed the midfield all game - now that's a first Allen 9 MOM, see Etebo but lasted the full 90 minutes and gets my MOM Clucas 7, solid but performance looking much better last few games. Bojan 7, decent first half but got bullied a bit great vision and knows how to pass a ball Afobe 8, had 1 chance and scored a good goal. Adam 7, did ok for his 35 minute spell got booked as usual. McClean 7, worked hard. Gouranga.

I've read the above and wonder why opinions are so diverse. It seems people only see the good in some players and the bad in others and not approach each game with an open mind. Allen did seem to me to play differently. Ince was mediocre for an hour and then blossomed. Bojan was disappointing but playing a role he is not suited to, closely m arked, and probably "ring rusty". Afobe was far more committed and gave 100% and scored a cracking goal.
Highlight of the match for me was Etebo getting his first goal at long last. Clearly an answer to the manager's prayers. It was an excellent goal and hopefully he can chip in regularly like Allen. Etebo has been our MVP since his return from suspension. He is still only 23 so hopefully Jones can mould him into an even better player.
Great to see Edwards didn't let his last performance affect his confidence and great to see Ryan put in good show.
All in all a good performance, but before we get carried away, let's face it, there wasn't much to beat yesterday and we will have lot a tougher opposition coming up against teams desperate to turn their form round.

Butland 7, didn't have much to do actually. Edwards 7, OK game, but nothing extraordinary. Shawcross, 8 very solid this afternoon. Batth 8.5, rock solid again! Indi 7.5, very solid, but limited going forward. Ince 8.5, MOM in my opinion. Also a very good defensive contribution. Etebo 8.5, very good again! Allen 8, worked his socks off! Clucas 7.5, very solid display. Bojan 6, our most anonymous player. Afobe 7.5, scored a very good goal and worked harder than in a long time. Adam 7.5, very decent after coming on. McClean 6.5, worked hard without creating much. Can’t argue with any of that.

Some saying he played well, and some saying he was very average until the final quarter of the game!!! You have to accept that some people just don't see things the same way!!!

Butland 7 - not a lot to do, but did it well. Distribution still wayward at times though.
Edwards 7 - looked decent, some good bits of play, still learning.
Shawcross 8 - what Ryan does best, battling against big forwards, heading and clearing anything that comes his way.
Batth 8.5 - exactly what we’ve been missing. Solid, good talker, leader, plays like he cares.
Indi 8 - decent display, not a natural LB for me but did well.
Ince 6 - absolutely shite until the 2nd goal, then suddenly remembered what he is here for. Someone’s got him as their MOM, I’m not sure 👀
Etebo 8 - carries the ball ludicrously well. Odd errors here and there need ironing out but it’s his first year, impressed! Another good display.
Allen 8 - no complaints, covered the ground and broke up Forest’s breaks well.
Clucas 7 - did OK, pressed well and made sure Forest had to move the ball quicker than they would have liked to.
Bojan 6 - some nice bits of play, a couple of errors, he’s measured using a different yardstick to most others, had an ‘OK’ game, nothing more or less.
Afobe 8 - worked his socks off, put himself about, superb goal, more please.
Adam 7 - did well, plugged gaps, took a customary one for the team, steadied us for the remainder of the game.
McClean 6 - came on, gave us legs, nothing much more.
