I was 11, just into footie, lived on Bentilee and was one of the few lads to have a football top (Claret and blue). cant even remember where it come from but Burmley had just won the League and I thought they were great. I knew Stoke had a team but my dad wasnt a footie fan and they were Div 2 so Burnley were My team.
Then Stoke got promoted and played Spurs who I think had just won the double,in their first game at home ( I hated Spurs because they beat Burnley in the cup final). Stoke won. I was amazed, how could this be. A team playin down the road had jut beat the champions, this I had to see.
Next home game I begged some dosh off me dad and saw them play the Villa (actually hardly saw a bloody thing cause I was only little and was standing halfway up the Stoke End) But that was enough, this was big time footie and I was hooked.
46 years later I still am, but if it hadnt have been for that promotion and me wanting a bit of glory, who knows.?????
So lets not be too hard on those jumping on the bandwagon now......you never know some of them may be die hards 46 years from now.......

Good post mate, nobody should care about new fans we need to fill the stadium. The most ironic thing is every one wants the corners filling in.....we need new fans!!
New or old everyone will want the same thing, to see our team who has put Stoke-on-Trent back on the map much to the dismay of the top pundits, to do well and become a Premiership Club. I think we can do it.

I went out for a curry last night with a Norwich fan and as usual we were discussing footy (He had to pay as we had been having a bet for the last few years whoever finished lowest in league had to buy the other a curry).
We were talkin about the gates both teams get. I had never seen Norwich as a really well supported team but he tells me they have yet again sold out the full allocation of 20,000 season tickets and there is a waiting list for them also.
Wouldnt it be nice to see a situation like that at Stoke. Lets welcome them new fans and hope they are not all just in it for the Prem league and disappear if we go down.

Yes Chad you were, you do realise that the next time you go in the Fox & Duck a drumhead court marshall will be held and if you're really lucky you might just about get away with crucifixion and a go on the rack ;D
