Could we hope for this? Imbula £5M Badou £5M Wimmer £5M Bojan £2-3M Diouf £2-3M Pieters £2-3M Adam free (hope he stays though as we have looked better when he is playing) Berahino free Shawcross free Fletcher freeThis will mean £20M+, + a huge reduction in our wage bill. I'd be surprised to see Allen here next season too if I'm honest. £12M+?

Nice idea but we'll struggle to give half of them away (and pay half the wages to boot).

Nice idea but we'll struggle to give half of them away (and pay half the wages to boot). Seems like some of them want to play football, so then they will have to accept a wage reduction I believe.

Nice idea but we'll struggle to give half of them away (and pay half the wages to boot). Which half do you think we will struggle to move on? Fletcher and adam will be out of contract won't they? Imbula will only have a year left and has been decent this season. Bojan had offers to move permanently in jan Diouf and pieters will only have a year left. Badou is a very good player, played in the champs league this season, don't understand why we didnt insist on a fee last summer. Wimmer, yes that's a tough one. Berahino...I feel certain he'll be sacked. I think shawcross would have suitors, I can see him getting a new lease of life under pulis or dyke. I think we will also sell Allen, Butland, possibly Woods or Etebo. I think this summer we are in an ideal position to overhaul the squad

For me I'd fuck the lot of them off apart from Batth, and start all over again.

I think we'd struggle to get fees for most of them given the wages most of 'em are on and the kind of teams who'd be interested. To shift them, we'd have to be very, very flexible.
2019 (Williams) Haugaard Adam Fletcher
2020 Federici Pieters Doesn't look like there was much interest beyond placing him on loan at Amiens at the last minute? Free at best. Cameron Free at best Bojan I'm assuming West Brom's offer for Bojan was a free given his wages? And New England's supposedly was Diouf possibly on a free. He's 32 in December.
2021 Butland £10m? Shawcross Free at best and maybe a pay-off to ease the way given his wage packet? Imbula Slight chance at least now he's playing. But not many teams who'd want him could get near £35k-a-week he's probably still on. He's not pulling up any trees.
2022 Bauer Hard to see much interest if his contract is crazy as it could be if he's back on Prem money. Edwards BMI Maybe a market in Europe of some kind. Souttar Tymon Nominal. Wimmer Maybe a chance at £3-4m? He seems very keen to leave which will help us McClean Hard to see Ndiaye Could be a market at less than half we paid. Allen £12m? Clucas God knows. Berahino Hopefully sacked. If not, no chance of shifting him Ince If he can't adapt to number 10, we'll have to look to sell. But, despite his good Championship record, who'd offer decent money and top C'ship wages? Vokes Batth Verlinden Ngoy Interesting to see if he goes to Grasshopper permanently. There is an option, isn't there?
2023 Etebo Hope he stays, but there'd be takers at what we paid. Sorensen Woods No idea Afobe Very hard to shift on top wages after this season. What kind of teams would be interested, and at what kind of fee?

We’re between a rock and a hard place here, it’s becoming more and more apparent that a majority of the playing staff are going to be fucked off in the summer, see the things that have become public this week.
The issue that leaves is they won’t give a fuck on the pitch because they know this, which is clear to see has been happening for months, but we’re not yet safe.
Jones has to somehow get these wankers motivated enough to play at a level to put themselves in the shop window for the clubs they feel they should be playing for, and subsequently ensure we stay in the league to try and rebuild for next season, tall order.
If he can manage it the blokes a genius.

Jones has to somehow get these wankers motivated enough to play at a level to put themselves in the shop window for the clubs they feel they should be playing for, and subsequently ensure we stay in the league to try and rebuild for next season, tall order. If he can manage it the blokes a genius. I'm pretty sure players have known what's on the cards for weeks and (unsurprisingly) it's already affecting performances. But what does Jones do - bullshit (which will lose him credibility in the long term and get seen through anyway) or be honest and risk demotivating the squad? We just have to hope that there's enough personal pride, professionalism and shop window opportunities to see us safe. The club have clearly seen the writing on the wall. Now that it's clear we're not going to make an instant return we are down scaling to be a Championship squad in double quick time. To be honest it's probably a better strategy than a long lingering death (a la Villa) - we are doing in 1 or 2 seasons what a lot of relegated clubs do in 3 or 4. It could turn out a good call - the three clubs that got promoted last year were ex-Prem who had taken several seasons to adapt. With luck maybe we can adapt that bit quicker having faced up to where we're at. We still have a lot of fans who are judging us as a Premiership club and seem either bewildered or simply incapable of accepting where we are - a Championship club trying to adapt and rebuild for a tilt at promotion. Those 10 years in the Premiership mean absolutely nothing. By all means enjoy the memories - but for your own sanity don't wake up in the morning thinking we're still there. I'm actually looking forward to next season already - it's certainly not going to be same old same old.

Who do we think the players Liam Lawrence is alluding to in his article in today's Sentinel?

If lots of players are leaving then for the majority that will mean Stoke City essentially paying them off. That would cost tens of millions. Might have to be done mind.

Could we hope for this? Imbula £5M only if we pay some of his wages. Otherwise a free Badou £5M only seems to want to play for Gala which shouldn’t be his call. Value right for me if not 7m. Wimmer £5M wages again an issue. Might get lucky. Bojan £2-3M knowing us we won’t get a fee Diouf £2-3M about right Pieters £2-3M Newcastle were keen. I’d say about right Adam free (hope he stays though as we have looked better when he is playing) more value in keeping him for another year Berahino free sack him if we can Shawcross free as a good will gesture let him go on a free Fletcher free agreed This will mean £20M+, + a huge reduction in our wage bill. I'd be surprised to see Allen here next season too if I'm honest. £12M+?

For some reason we do better when the Coates cheque book is closed, and that includes Pulis and definitely Hughes. Once he let them spend money we overpaid for poor players - whether that comes down to Cartwright and Scholes who knows(probably to some extent). Sustainability was spoken of many times but now they are facing a massive write down on their investment.
