He's fast and hard working. Did a decent job at rightback last year. Genuinely think he's worth a go.

If anyone we should try Bauer

I think Diouf deserves a chance in the team. Maybe not at left back but perhaps on the right of the diamond. He’s got much more in him than Clucas.

I still want Bauer on the right, but now I'm so desperate I would try McClean at left back. He can't score and he can't put crosses in, but at least he can run. Indi seems totally lost there with no attacking contribution.

I think he's worth a shot. He's mobile, can get up and down and tackle . To be frank I'd prefer to start him with Vokes but due to having no left back I'd get him in here.
He has a great attitude and the sort of guy we need in the team.

How about Federici at left back? Come on guys Are you certain it would become much worse with him playing there?

Was a bit surprised he wasn't on the bench as a forward player.
Can he really be behind McClean, Afobe and Berahino (as well as Crouch and Campbell before that?)
Can only assume he's developed a bit of an attitude problem if so?

Diouf would be decent at RWB but he’s no fullback. For me has to be Edwards on the right and Bauer on the left.

Can only assume he's developed a bit of an attitude problem if so? Probably just been through some of the shittest weeks of his life mate losing his dad having already lost his mum. Really can’t see Diouf as ever having an attitude problem.

Needs to be Tymon, yes he was poor in his last game but as I've said before in regards to Edwards I'd rather a youngster there learning the position making mistakes than a plodder like Indi or Bauer doing it, at least Tymon might learn from it.

And coming off a hat-trick for the U23s on Monday, you would have thought he was available for selection. I just find the idea that McClean's a better bet than him a hard one to process.

Diouf should be way ahead of McClean.
Diouf runs as much as McClean and I’d prefer to have him in front of goal than McClean.

I really do think it would be best if a left back was predominantly left footed if nothing else

I just find the idea that McClean's a better bet than him a hard one to process. I agree but most of that was Rowett and since Jones has been here his dad passed away. I’m hoping that it’s just Jones has seen more of Berahino in training as I don’t think Diouf has been back more than a week. Really hope he gets his chance. Even if he’s no better I’d just rather watch someone who know will give their all! No idea about the McClean thing. I can kind of see bringing him on late to run at a tired defence but starting him was baffling. No really any point paying £7-9m for a hold up striker/target man if you don’t play an actual striker up with him! Perhaps Jones has now learnt his lesson on that one.

In place of Clucas, yes. But then I’d take Henrik Risom over Clucas.

Diouf was a damn sight better at the back than Bauer has been.

He's been back in training for a while, post compassionate leave, and banged in a hat-trick for the U23s last week. The fact remains he has not been in the mix at all this season - and he's a player I like. He's played 400 minutes all season. He cannot get on to the bench in an 18 that McClean starts in and fields 2 strikers - and that is odd

He’s worth 10 Clucas’s so that’s effectively 11 because he is like playing against with a handicap!! If he ever plays again in a Stoke short it will be too soon for me.
Mame deserves to play and I would play him or Afobe with Vokes!

Diouf showed himself capable of hitting double figures in the Prem, he must be capable of doing at least a dozen goals a division lower. He's a confidence player and playing him out of position didn't do much for that. I think Hughes really damaged him too. I think his mums death really affected him (anyone who has lost a parent would truly understand)-also very much the same with young Ollie Shenton. Now Mame has lost his old man too so he must be in pieces. This aside, now he should still have enough pace and power to trouble championship defences. You don't need to be Lionel Messi to score goals in the Championship. Maybe there's too much baggage for Diouf at Stoke but honestly I think he'd be a success elsewhere. But playing him in a defence that's already struggling is the stuff of nightmares. My god, what next, Afobe in goal??!!
