If we can get rid of mcclean or ince (ideally both) those 2 + Shankland/cosgrove would be incredible Shankland hasn’t stepped up to the SPL so won’t be good enough for the championship If he's getting service then possibly, could be the team around him.

Really don't see left back as an urgent priority as we look to push for promotion. Defence isn't the problem. Its our utterly hapless ability to create chances, beat a man and score goals. Two quality wingers and a striker need to be the priority along with a box to box centre mid.

When Fox is injured (which he is at the moment) we have no senior player capable of playing left back properly. This means MON has been forced to move from a back 4 to a back 3 with wing backs and this is having an effect on our attacking options.

Pickering would be a positive signing in that respect.

I'm still not convinced buying a left right now is more pressing than our absolute crisis in attacking areas. Fair enough if we sign Pickering, but there are other areas I'd like to see prioritised.

We've played with a back 4 quite a few times this season I've lost so much interest in football since the no fans policy, I obviously didn't notice 😃 Out of interest can you post a team sheet where we've played 4 at the back? That's not meant to be a patronising request or one which disputes your point but I genuinely can't recall seeing a game where we haven't played 3 centre halves.

Pretty much any game where Fox has played (aside from a couple earlier in the season where he was either the LWB or LCB) we've had 3 centre halves on the pitch but Collins has been at RB.

Have you actually watched any games or do you just assume our formation is what some media pundit predicts it is going to be? As it happens we started the season usually with a back 3, then moved to a back 4 and then (when Fox was injured) moved to a back 3 again - and that is when our goals scored suddenly dipped to its current low level. There is no mystery about it MON even mentioned that Fox's injury had forced a change in formation.

No because im watching cricket and can't be bothered Collins has played RB on a number of occasions. So technically we've played with 3 cbs but not always in a back 5.

Its not a contest 😂 So when Fox has played left back, we've played a back 4?

Yeah fair enough, think it was the whole Tymon bit that was throwing me off because I think at one point he was playing as a left wing back leading me to think it was a back 5.

We've then switched to wing backs and we've suffered up front as a result

Pickering made more assists than any defender in the football league last season including the premier league, and is continuing in the same vein this season. We would be bloody mental if we didn't go for him if we have the chance. He certainly has the potential to play at the highest level and I think we may struggle to match Crewes valuation of him due to ffp.
