I think the club are in for a major shock.
I expect season ticket renewals to drop from around 20,000 to 12,000.
People are sick of these players pinching huge wages.
Mark my words these players and recruitment team are killing our club.

I think from the reaction to the second goal yesterday when the stadium quickly emptied, that you could guess a lot of those people won’t. It’s absolutely shocking how the team has declined in the last 3 seasons. |

This was a massively important season. I don't want to start talking about better and worse fans, because that's not what I'm trying to say but let's just consider those who were 'on the fence' about renewing, I suspect will be 100% on the side of non-renewal next season. Perhaps it was "stay at home with the wife and newborn or go to see Stoke" those kind of 50/50 kind of people....? People with priorities outside of Stoke City, but decided to give it a whirl anyway. They'll be absolutely gone and who can blame them? So we immediately lose a good few thousand there.
I will renew, because I'm a mug really and have nothing better to do at weekends. Do we get value for money? I'm block 23, so £16 a match to watch us lose to Liverpool... it wasn't great, but at least it was elite football and arguably seeing some of the best players in the world. We're now paying £16 to watch us lose to some very very average teams. Paul Gallagher apparently wasn't deemed good enough to chase a perm signature, so we pied him off, yet he looked like fucking Xavi yesterday. Absolutely ran the show.... and he must be what, 35???
As our stock continues to tumble, we're beginning to keep some rather dull and undesirable company in the footballing world..... without sounding like a horrible football snob. Who's to blame? Ourselves. Too many mediocre signings.... not enough passion.... not enough investment..... not enough talent.... a football club being run 20 years behind the current operating principals of most football clubs. Like I said, as we continue to slide our name will fall into insignificance and our chances of the "grand return" become very remote. There are already bigger clubs than us in the Championship and they're pushing on. This was supposed to be a season of transition, not decline. It has spiralled into the kind of decline, that's comparable to British Leyland proportions.

I will renew my(2) but I bet I won’t get a better seat! Try every year to get higher up and nearer the half way line, but still in the same seat.
The football has been poor for some time. We do need to get some effort and entertainment or the numbers will inevitably drop by catastrophic proportions, and the downward spiral will continue and accelerate. MJ has a hell of a job and responsibilities on his shoulders.

I kept the faith with my 3 ST renewals this season even though I only really needed 2 (now 1 now as one has already given up after one of the home drubbings) and the other was always a "guest" should my daughter come home from Brizzle to see us. So I've been loaning it to my nephew, and anyone else who fancies it....and I've struggled to give it away and been on my own a few times with my fat arse spread across 3 seats!!!
The pragmatic side of me says fuck it all off and save 1200 but the emotional side tells me they are good seats and I like all those around us - we're good friends even though we don't really know each other's names.....I'd feel that I was letting them down too......
So in short, I'm not sure what the hell to do come renewal.....and it will be a last minute / last day decision......hopefully Nathan can whip up some decent performances out of the lacklustre mob we have at the moment.....depressing times...

The prices are excellent and the club have to be commended for their policy in this area but sadly the matchday experience has , for a very long time , been something you would struggle to give away for free.

If there's one redeeming feature of your rant it's pointing to championship clubs that are "already" bigger clubs than us and they are pushing on. I think some of those clubs were always bigger than us, but they just went into a pothole for a long time and no matter how hard they tried to escape it just became worse. Leeds for several years have been the laughing stock everywhere in football. Last season they came some way towards getting it right, before suddenly sacking the manager; this season they are close to doing the right thing, on the pitch that is. So now they are "pushing on", but that's taken them a long time. Despite us beating them last week, it's very hard to imagine SCFC being anywhere near them in the foreseeable future. I've been saying it will take Jones five transfer windows to get a team that's worth believing in, but it could be longer even. Everyone who's here now has to go before we can get back on track, except maybe some youth players who just might surprise us when they grow up. However long it's going to take, the only thing we can do is support them all the way. |

Unless you genuinely can’t afford it then I can’t see why you wouldn’t renew. We’ve had a bad few years but we’ve just appointed a young manager who needs time to implement his philosophy and change the playing staff.

Yesterday was the first time I have genuinely considered not renewing
I was looking forward to seeing the new manager and the new team ethic and it looked liked fuck all had changed.
Next few games will decide whether I renew or not

(As I have stated on other threads) I have only recently been able to afford a ST (ironically for 08/09 JCL git !)
For many years I dreamt of being able to afford a ST. Now i can afford it I am not, not going to renew but that is not an endorsement of the pudridicity (prob not a word but sounds good) of the last three seasons. I normally renew 1st day of early bird but guess what i am gonna show em ! And not renew till nearly last day (and hope internet dont go faulty !) That ill show em !!!

I don't like the whole "I'm a better fan than you because I go" mentality.... that's not the right way of looking at it. People have lives outside of football. I rarely miss aways and honestly, it's not cheap following our club left right and centre. You travel the country to be served utter shit. A fairly common remark these days (when referring to an away) is "the worst part of the day was the football". Brentford was a great example of that. I had a great day, met some great lads and went in some good boozers..... utterly ruined by a pitiful 90 minutes of football. It's nothing against Nathan Jones this, I'm just explaining that for people who are maybe trying to tighten the purse strings or re-evaluate their priorities, Stoke might be one of the first to go. |

I’ve got 4 ST’s and to be honest I’ve missed more games this season than any other. Work and family stuff that I’d ordinarily put aside has started to take precedence.
I’ll renew all 4, but it’s definitely a heart over head decision. Trying to get my boys into it is fucking murder with the utter shit being served up week after week - it makes redecorating semi-appealing...

I recall many a poster stating Premiership on the pitch but Championship off it, well we’ve truly found our level both on and off the field.
It’s amazing that the total sleazy creatures behind the scenes are still plowing away regardless.
How on earth can we go forward with the cancer that has blighted us for years still pulling the strings

I was thinking this aswell. Let's face it Stoke would be unwise & it would be foolish to increase prices in view of our continuing decline. It's very unlikely they'll lower the prices as they've been what they are for years now. So keeping the prices the same is the most likely outcome.. But as has been mentioned there's every likelihood alot less will renew than did for this season so Scholes & his marketing crew do need to think outside the box this time around. Whether it be an interest free repayment scheme or offer of a free new shirt for next season as just 2x ideas, some kind of incentive will be needed to help maintain interest and numbers. They've had it easy & been reliant on promising Premier League footy for an age now & that has now back fired. But as we all know the campaign this time last year was 'we're all pulling together learning from mistakes' etc etc Ra Ra Ra! Well all that pre season promise of a bounce straight back up & the board backing Gary etc all evaporated after that 1st game defeat to Leeds & if we're being honest has never really regained any momentum since.. I'm predicting that in the main the people who will renew next season will be those ones who were purchasing season tickets well before our Premier League, FA Cup Final and European adventures began. With the exception of a few younger fans who werent around in them Championship & 1st Div days of old who have stuck by us now & in that I include my 2x daughters who I know will still come with me next season. I think the decrease on supporters signing up may well be higher this Spring than last coz this time last year at signing up time there was still a realistic chance we could of stayed up and remained a Prem team.. Some potential choppy waters ahead for the powers that be. |
