They said on Radio Stoke that both Woods and Adam were injured in the run up to the game. Adam hobbled past to the bench today, and didn’t look like he’ll be starting anytime soon.

Yeah I heard Adam had a hamstring problem and would be out for about 4 weeks, must have missed the Woods injury. I'm not his biggest fan but I felt he would have been quite useful today.

So just as number one gets injured, so does number two. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same tackle that did both.
That's your typical 'Stoke' kick in the tits right there.

Its a calf injury and was told hed be out upto a month. It is soft tissue injuries which seem to afflict many of our players who get a few starts after a long period without any game time. It seems to be a bit of a pattern at our club but I don't know if it is common at other clubs as well. A lot of the problem it seems to me is that if you have a first team squad player who is one of the senior players then, if they are not getting games for the first team they don't get many games at all. I don't think it was as much of a problem in the days when we had reserve teams. A player who was fit either played for the first team or played at least a reasonable number of games for the reserves. Charlie seems to feature in Checkatrade games, but once we are out of that competition he doesn't seem to play much at all - at least he didn't under Rowett. The U23s are allowed to play a number of over age players. Conventional opinion amongst fans seems to be that it is better to keep the numbers of over age players to a minimum. I am not sure that is always the best policy. I'd rather have a smaller number of U23 development players so that those we did have and senior squad players such as Charlie and Bojan all got a reasonable number of games so that both U23s and seniors remained match fit if and when they were needed for the senior squad. To be honest, I wish we could go back to the old fashioned reserve teams which always contained a good mix of senior pros and youngsters. The football was better, attracted bigger crowds (sometimes HUGE crowds in the 50s and 60s) and no senior players felt it was beneath them to play for the reserves.
