It was great seeing a proactive defence for a change.

Not seen it said but was solid as a rock today 👍 He was immense, and I said he was past it! Says a lot about what a change of formation and players can influence other players!

Nice to see him reading the play and attacking the ball with aggression. Got to say much better

Was never isolated 1 on 1, it was a brilliant performance defensively from all.

Brilliant performance. Given a job to stop Roofe today and he did it perfectly. It’s what he does best. Rowett’s system and how much that asked of him to play it out the back never suited him.

The defence supported each other in a way that we have not seen for a very very very long time.

For me the back 3 played well but I’d suggest it was because none of them were exposed because of the system

I thought Shawcross led from the front at the back (if that makes sense) . Very much set the tone. Bauer and Clucas looked a bit lost to begin with but grew into it.

Yep well done Shawcross, great game and solid performance. We really need him to stand up and be one of the main men solidifying this team and helping us move into the next phase (which may see him become peripheral, but still essential!!)

He was fucking brilliant today.
Not hung out to dry, everyone including him knew their roles.
Him and Williams were very alert to the reverse ball - Bit stupid and bordering arrogant from Beisla to say the main ways to score against stoke so publically...
Beisla showed himself up big time today - and a lot of that had to do with Ryan.

He was good, all three of the back 3 were.
This 3-5-2 is a system that suits the players we have at the minute.

Shawcross has been a boo boy recently, got stick for no reason. The 2 Shrewsbury games when he wasn't playing the defence looked lost. He was telling Williams and Indi both where to go today, great stuff. Marked Roofe out the game too, he didn't have a sniff, Roofe ended up dropping to half way to try get in the game.

For me the back 3 played well but I’d suggest it was because none of them were exposed because of the system It looks like we’ve finally learned how to play with a back 3, 18 months too late! Shawcross was superb today, more of that please Ryan.

I'll bet if you compare Ryan's stats with the rest of the season then it will show that he had the least amount of touches of the ball today than in any game this season.
He just did what he does best and he was superb.

Played well, and Ashley was outstanding today. The defensive weak link was Clucas, whose positional sense seemed a bit off. A cracking goal though.

Sticking him in the middle of a 3 and then not allowing players to run from deep straight at him, played to his strengths and he responded brilliantly. Looking to move the ball forward or out wide quicker also helped in that in recent months the more passes from Ryan to Ashley and back ad-infinitum, the less comfortable he looks. Today his job was to be a defender and to attack and win all high balls into the area, which he did superbly.

Very good today but his overall consistency is frighteningly bad. Let’s hope he can keep on top of the curve until the end is The season.
