News 30/05/2008 - Stoke hope for yellow fever with new strip
Stoke City are hoping yellow fever takes off at the Britannia Stadium after launching their new-look away strip. The official launch goes ahead today after a picture of the shirt was mysteriously smuggled on to the internet overnight. Stoke have departed from recent tradition by opting for a yellow away shirt, modelled right by defender Ryan Shawcross, to mark their debut in the Premier League next season. The club is now anticipating thousands of orders from fans after already selling more than 5,000 home shirts earlier this month. The new away kit will be in stock next month, but supporters can place their orders on line at scfcdirect.com or via the club shops at the Britannia and in Hanley. The link doesn't work but the story IS on the Sentinel website - although their link to a picture of Ryan wearing the kit doesn't work.

The bright yellow and blue design has once again been produced by leading sport manufacturers le coq sportif, and promises to be a huge hit with the supporters following on from the extremely successful home kit launch. "It feels really comfortable and I think it is much better than last seasons design and I can't wait to wear it." Griffin added: "It will look fantastic with the new Premier League badges on the sleeves and I can't wait to put it on at some of the biggest stadiums in the country." Blue shorts and socks look better than the alternative of yellow socks, at least.
Looks better than I thought after seeing the picture last night.

Agreed - much more impressive than the picture last night. The yellow is brighter, the blue is darker and the badges are aligned properly. Perhaps last night's was an early pre-production model?
I'll buy one I think.

You need to scrape those curtains out of your eyes JR. I think it's a nice shirt.

He's probably thinking about the prospect of the likes of Ronaldo running at him when he is playing out of position at right back!

Decent football kit for the team to wear, but a poor leisure shirt for supporter wear. I'll stick with the home kit.

On the whole I think it looks pretty good but I don't like the collar as much as the one on the home strip and I'm not sure about the blue shorts and the blue socks.

I like it - they've gone for blue shorts and socks as I hoped - and it's a decent shade of blue as well. Just wish I was gong somewhere sunny and warm on holiday to wear it! ;D
