My initial reaction was rather against Nathan Jones, but having listened to his interview and found out more about him, I think he may well prove to be an inspired appointment. I was not one of the group calling for the sacking of Gary Rowett. In fact I think he is a better manager than was apparent at Stoke and will probably go on to do well elsewhere. Oddly enough Nathan Jones looks a bit like Rowett, but I suspect his career at Stoke will be very successful if he is given full backing by board and supporters to develop his ideas to the full. Perhaps he should start by signing Powell at Wigan, who is out of contract in the summer. Another subject which deserves comment tonight is the exceptional performance of the Under18s against Everton in the second half on tuesday night. Toure and Coates were picked out in the commentary, but also centre half Collins, who regularly stands out at this level and scored the equalising goal.

Crumbs that was a full stinker yesterday. Fortunately that's the game in which Jones will have a free pass but if that's how the players turn out to impress the new manager he's got some serious work on his hands here.
Nowhere near fit or bright enough to immediately take to the new system, if I was Jones I'd have a longer list of players we need to see the back of than bring in if yesterday is anything to go by.
Hopefully though they do adapt even if it does take a while. For what it's worth I do think there is a good group in there somewhere, partly suffering with no confidence and definitely not used to playing with intensity. Double training sessions leading up to Leeds please!

Evening you pair, well what a week that was🤔Must admit to being initially surprised at the appointment of Nathan Jones but the more I’ve heard from him over the the last few days the more I’m impressed by what he has had to say.The problem he faces though is the set of bottleless players he’s been left with in my opinion. It was there for all to see yesterday in abundance because if they can’t get up got a new manager when can they. The focus for me is now rightly so on this bunch of players and their so called attributes. If I hear another manager or a player of ours say we have good players I’m going to scream. Anyway on to the new diamond formation that Jones is going to play, for me if we’re going to play this we need at least one full back to replace Pieters and 2 yes 2 centre halves to replace the current pair.Yes I’ve finally come round to the notion that Ryan needs replacing😢 and Williams is obviously not our player.Prefably 2 strong athletic players to replace them. Then the midfield conundrum which all I can say is good luck Nathan because all our midfielders are pretty much the same in what they offer. Power and pace is a must in this system for me in which we are sadly lacking so the next couple of weeks could be interesting regarding ins and outs. Lastly we all need patience with the new set up because it’s going to take a lot of work for Jones to implement his changes with this bunch as it stands now.

Over the moon with the appointment!
what a refreshing change to go for an attack minded manager rather than Allardyce, Moyes, O’Neil etc
We’ve got to be patient whilst he sorts things out including the fitness of the players because there’s being fit and there’s being Nathan Jones fit.

Good afternoon Angela and Russ. Looking forward to the show. Don’t have anything constructive to say (some would say I never do) - because yesterday’s performance spoke for itself! UGH!

Agree with Russ, i havent felt a connection with the team or players for 3 or 4 years. I dont know what Nathan Jones can do to make the connection of the team to the fans.

Nathan Jones has a lot of work to do. We need a new 11. Then frauds should donate their weeks wages

3 years ago we were giving City and Utd a lesson in football, now we are pinching Luton Town's manager.

We can't play the way the manager wants until we get rid of the current defence. If we're not going to play the way the manager wants then we've chosen the wrong manager. They've got to make the necessary changes.
Love Ange's use of the word 'friggin'. Things really are bad.

I agree with Russ regarding the captain situation at Stoke. Sawyers for them was an inspiration shouting loud and geeing up is side. Shawcross for us head down not saying anything not very inspiring.
Also transfer list the whole squad.

I keep hearing comments about Rowett setting up negatively because of the state of our defence.
Why then have we heard Derby and Birmingham fans commenting on his negative football?
He played negative football because he is a negative manager.

Let’s remember when the capped one 1st took over on Nov 1st he didn’t win a game until over Christmas against Sheff Wed so it’d going to take time for Jones to implement his formation and ideas

With the excitement that was built up after the manager was appointed, it was probably not the worst possible thing for us to lose so poorly yesterday.
Straight away Nathan Jones could see, and indeed he commented on the poor defending. There's no hiding it anymore.

Jones is the first manager, perhaps since Pulis, that has an identity and a very distinct way of playing. A way of playing adopted by most of this season’s most successful clubs across all divisions. He’ll need plenty of time to educate our current squad and buy the type of players who can thrive in his system and make it tick. This is a project which demands patience. The long term benefits could be huge.

Evening guys.
One thing I really like about Nathan Jones is his talk about coaching players into better players rather than going straight into the market. I just feel a lot of these sorry individuals are beyond help, they look completely disinterested and as you’ve said, the fans aren’t prepared to put up with it anymore. They’ve dodged the firing line for far too long. They’re a disgrace to be honest putting in that performance under a new manager. If he does manage to get a tune out of this squad, we may as well start calling him the messiah because it seems an impossible job.

It would be a massive decision so early in his managership to jettison the legend that is Shawcross, but alot on here think this has to happen for his style to be effective?. Also as a talking point after Rowett went there was some suggestion that Cartwright would be sacrificed. I assume this is not going to happen now?

New manager bounce?
Old team 'splat' more like.
So, so disappointing for NJ that this lot could only muster that 'performance.
Disgraceful.

Jones has gone from calling the players a 'wonderful group' to a 'good group' in just a couple of days. Straightaway he's subtly showing his disappointment with them.

Arnie sell on clause?

A 20% sell on clause on the profit would be £3m or less, so not really enough to get worked up about anyway.
