This team won't do anything without massive investment in the defence.
2 young athletic defenders are a minimum.

We had massive investment in the defence- he’s in Germany though!
We need a manager that can spot talent.
We’ve made 2 decent signings since 2013 and that’s the root of our problems.

Question is if we can’t shift any of the deadwood this January, which I doubt we will, will the owners plough yet more money into transfers? Can’t see it myself. We’ve been lumbered with some right shite on big contracts and until those contracts are wound down we’re stuck with this squad. Looks like we had better get planning for a big promotion push next season.

Need to spend enough to ensure we stay up - so defenders are needed. As for everything else we ain’t going to buy our way out of this set up quickly.

Forget this window, forget this season. The summer is when the change needs to take place. Not a chance, the defence needs patching up to last the season. Shawcross is finished, Williams is finished, the less said about Martina the better. We need a new CB at a minimum. If we can bring one in then in the summer we can maybe cash in on BMI and Pieters too. Edwards/Bauer, BMI, ??, Pieters Perhaps NJ can make a player out of Tymon too if he's as good a fullback coach as he's been hyped to be. We're hanging NJ out to dry if we don't bring a new CB in at the very least, we can't forget this window - or the fans will turn on NJ too and we'll be back to square one. |

The genuine problem I have from todays performance is who to keep not who to get rid of.
The defence was absolutely awful, midfield not much better and attack non existant, except for one good goal.
Big turnover of players needed.
Rest of this season and summer to rebuild, maybe longer?
Still think that Jones is our best chance of achieving it. Big job and has to be backed by owners, players and fans
For quite sone time we have been patching things up with sticking plasters when what is needed is major surgery. In a perverse sirt of way I am almost pleased with todays game as it demonstrates without doubt what is needed

I think they’re more likely to turn on S and C first if he’s hung out to dry. |
