The question is irrelevant. He is our manager and we have to get behind him. If it isn’t working, I suppose we will swap again in the summer. Define 'isn't working'. Do you mean scraping relegation or a mid table finish? If it's the latter, that would be a ridiculous decision to get rid. He could have the summer to assess and truly get his own squad together. Even if we scraped with safety (which I personally don't think we will), I still think it'd be silly to get rid (and it's yet again more expense for Coates), again under the premise that he can get the summer to assess and make changes where necessary. He's a young manager who has just come from Leagues 2 and 1, with lots of learn and lots to pass on to the team. If he can get a Stoke team to play the kind of stuff Luton are right now, we could be in for a right little treat.

I'm absolutely delighted with the appointment but I'd rather have had Potter six months ago as we'd have now been six months ahead of schedule. The bonus is that the Coates family seem to have moved forward a couple of decades, you never know in the next decade we might even appoint a foreigner.

Potter might well have been a good appointment but nobody can know for certain whether or not we would be ahead of schedule. He has done well with the players he inherited but those are not the players he would have inherited here. Your opinion, of course, but other opinions equally valid.

Like most Stokies,I’m hoping for the best and fearing the worst. The last three managers have been less experienced than the previous one, which is a bit worrying.

As a Luton fan I'm obviously very disappointed to see NJ go, particularly at this stage of the season where we have some huge games ahead and he is one of the main reasons we find ourselves in this position. What you have in NJ is a pretty raw manager in terms of experience but one who ultimately knows how he can get his teams to play in a system he favours. Apologies for not being familiar with your current squad so I can't comment whether they'll be able to adjust to his style. He plays a very attacking style all with a midfield diamond. The full backs will be expected to contribute equally to attacking and defensive duties. From what I've witnessed the key position in his formation is a quality holding midfielder. Glen Rea for us is outstanding in that role but is out long term so we've now got George Thorne in to slot into that position. Most of the time the ball is on the deck and very pleasing on the eye. It hasn't all been plain sailing for NJ at Luton though. At the start the jury was very much out but he did a brilliant job of getting the fans inside, badge kissing etc etc and securing himself the time he needed. The question for all you Stoke fans is... will you be prepared to give him time to sort things out? Also will your board? If your patient I have no doubt that he will transform your club completely and get you back in the Premier League with style too. I do wish him and Stoke City well in the future and shall be keeping a close eye on your results. Note if caution though.... don't be fooled by the kiss the badge, love the club, love the fans BS that will no doubt come out of his mouth sooner rather than later. We were all taken in by it and it hurts that we've been let down so badly and I have no doubt that in the future when a 'bigger' club wants him he'll be off in a flash with no regard for you guys! All the best and good luck! Great post keep in touch. Good luck for the rest of the season.
