Get Rowett out. Let's have Moyes or Stevie Evans in the hot seat for the trip to Brentford.

Evening Ange and Russ,
Well another tumultuous week at Stoke City ! prformance and disappointing result against Bolton followed by an abysmal performance and disgraceful result against Bristol City. The fans have now rightly had enough and this follows a decidedly underwhelming, dreary season so far. The fans clearly made their feelings known in both games, but the volume on Tuesday surely left nobody in any doubt that Rowett's postion was untenable. His previous interview where he had criticised the fans and his tendency to throw his own players under the bus have also counted heavily against him. In my opinion he should have gone on Tuesday evening but no word from the Board either of support or criticism which has led tp the crazy scenario where Rowett is in charge against Shrewsbury this weekend.
According to the media it appears that the club are hoping to get David Moyes to replace Rowett so hopefully this is being sorted out before he's officially sacked.
We can't afford a repeat of last season's shenanigans with Hughes and then scrabbling around for 2 weeks trying to bring in a repalcement. We MUST get this right this time.
In my opinion Moyes would be a good appointment as apart from his time at Sunderland and Real Sociedad he has done a good job wherever he's been.
I just want the club to get on with sackiong Rowett ASAP and then bringing in immediately to hopefully get Stoke City on the way up agaion woith a play-off place as a possible target this year. If he does get us promoted I think he would be able to keep us up as well.

Evening all, from my death bed. I have had the worst cold that any human has lived to talk about, apart from poor old Cooper 67 who has had the lurgy for about 12 months.. The hospital for tropical medicines will be on the phone to me at any moment. On top of that I have been made to feel even sicker by the abject performances of our beloved Stoke over Christmas. Come to think of it it stretches back a lot further than that. Rowett has been unconvincing since his arrival and he has been badly let down by some of the players, not just the odd clown that he signed himself. I mention no names, but people can judge for themselves. Do you think it’s just a matter of him caretaking now until a suitable replacement is appointed, or is there still a slim chance of him still being here till the end of the season? If it’s a case of back him or sack him, will the board give him money to improve the squad? One window was never going to be enough for anyone to make all the changes needed to our relegation side. Don’t get me wrong,I couldn’t give a stuff if he went today. I was ready for his departure weeks ago. If they do keep him though the team is evidently not good enough. Right I’m off to bed with a Night Nurse. ...........

Russ I don't agree that the common denominator is a rotten club for the three managers we've had.
Hughes has had issues everywhere he's been long term and turned Southampton into stoke-lite by the time he was sacked. Lambert has had low stock everywhere for years and Rowett has suffered with the exact same backlash from the fans at both Derby and Birmingham.
I'm not saying we don't have problems behind the scenes, that much seems obvious, but let's not pretend this job is some sort of poison chalice. All 3 of the last managers have been poor by the time they have been sacked (or in Rowetts case about to be).

Evening all from Bulgaria! If we know about the problems with the recruitment, any incoming manager will also know. Do you think Moyes or Allardice will agree to come in and still let Cartwright & Scholes run the transfers? I cant believe such well established managers will agree with that. If the manager is changed, will Coates put up the money needed - which will be substantial - to get us where he wants us to be (top 6 minimum)?
An interesting week coming up!!!! ps Glad to see Russ looking a bit better!!!

Evening all, just a thought...we seemed to have troubles replacing hughes when he went and ended up with nobody off the usual list of potential replacement managers. Rowett seemed to be our choice and although we have struggled I do believe it will come right. I for one would rather stick with him then see big sam or moyes come in. I am off back to my man flu bed, hopefully we will win tomorrow and it will aid my speedy recovery...

Evening both,
Do you believe that Moyes (should he get the job) be able to get us to the playoffs with the current squad or does he NEED more players in?
If the only way to fund more signings in Jan was to sell Jack Butland would you sell or hold out till summer ?

Evening all, there’s no coming back for Rowett after the crowd reaction last Tuesday in my opinion.I’m convinced he’s been engineering a way out since Coates told him there’s hardly any money available in January and therefore guarantee a pay out for him and his staff

Can we realistically afford a third extremely poor choice of manager?
And, for avoidance of doubt, by that, I mean Moyes.
(And without sycophancy, I echo your comments on him almost exactly Ange.)
He'll be a sticking plaster over far, far bigger issues.
He will 'succeed' only by default & by virtue of being better than Rowett (which, let's face it, won't be hard).
He'll come in and mess the squad up (again) and in whatever months time, post his honeymoon, we'll be in this exact same position.
< We should have got this fella (see avatar).
Failing him (obviously he's gone for a Chinky), Jakanovic looks an outstanding candidate from where I'm sitting.

On the Rowett barracking, he has brought it all on himself initially, by his arrogant attitude to certain popular players and favouritism to some of his own players. He has then compounded matters by arrogance shown to the fans and Bojan after the Bolton match. He is not a likeable man and if you are unsuccessful on the pitch, you cannot get away with that. He is also very stubborn and will not change formation or tactics come what may. I started to feel a little bit of sympathy for him until I heard his latest interview. He was just as arrogant and showed no humility whatsoever. I don’t think he’d ever be capable of an apology or admitting he was wrong. He needs to go the sooner the better.

Can we at least agree on one thing? It’s a good thing tomorrow’s tie can’t be decided on a penalty shootout.
