Ayup folks,
Getting the train on Saturday, due to arrive at tennish. Will aim to have a couple of pints in town before heading to the ground.
I know it’s a bit of a trek, so was wondering if any Shrewsbury based Stokies have any advice or info? Are taxis readily available? Is there a shuttle bus service? Or is it walkable?
Cheers in advance

4 of us are getting the train and should be in Shrewsbury about an hour before you. We will have a few in the town near the station then get a taxi to a pub near the ground although I believe the closest pub to the ground (google maps) is a good 12-15 minute walk away.

Cheers in advance hello mate, you can crawl along belle Vue area, plenty of good boozers there, id avoid the masonic pub though. The belle Vue tavern, grove are both decent and not far to walk to the ground, as for cabs then gocars is what you need. Download the app and it works like Uber, dead easy. I'm drinking in the peacock after the game but that's too far if your training it. Hope that helps and see you there

The wheatsheaf is ok, turn left out of the station, up the hill, keep following it past town and turn right when you come to the lion hotel, 150 yards on left is wheatsheaf, that's ok and loggerheads and fishes very close by too. All ok

If your gonna go that way then the bell is nicer but I'd recommend the peacock as it's closer and bigger. Don't rate the brick

Any parking advice for people driving down?
Is there much available? Not sure what the area is like, but it sounds like it's near a retail park.

For those who have not been to the new ground you need to be aware it is about a mile and a half out of town so its a good walk from the station - it will take you a brisk 30 minute walk (and some uphill) parking is limited near the ground as the trading estates nearby are keen on stopping football parkers so have a 3 hour limit (Sainsbury's and Lidl)There is some on road parking near the ground and also some on the verge stuff but it is fairly limited. Would not recommend parking in town as it is very expensive and a good way from the ground. Nearest pub to the ground is the Wild Pig - probably full of Shrewsbury fans though. This is a 10-15 minute walk from the ground. If coming by train - station has some taxis on a small rank there. Otherwise use gocars app if you do not ant to walk. The station is pretty much in town and there are lots of good pubs. Loggerheads, Nags Head or 3 Fishes are old school good beer pubs. The Shrewsbury Hotel is a wetherspoons place about 5 minutes from the station if that floats your boat.
Shrewsbury is a lovely town - please leave it as you find it!
Still trying to get a ticket although not really sure if I want to witness any more of Rowett's rubbish. I can hear the noise at the ground from where I live so if I am not there make enough noise so I know you are there - if is booing I will know what's happening!

The railway station is only a short walk to the bus station in town. Shrewsbury Town FC official site, state Bus 27 from Stand E runs every 20 mins - get off at BP Garage or Sainsburys. Alternative - Bus 8 from Stand C runs every 30 mins - get off Charles Darwin pub.

Shrewsbury is my favourite place and I spend a lot of my time there. Loads of decent pubs so make a day of it... I always use the Go Cars app, very reliable, cheap and you can track the taxi.

I've downloaded this Go Bots app that everyone is cocking on about but all I'm getting is some wank 80s Transformers rip-off cartoon thing.
Does Optimus Sub-Prime give you a lift from the station? I'm confused.
It's all very technical in deepest, darkest Shropshire.

For those looking for a more.. ahem how to say it upmarket venue, try The Boathouse on the river it's less than 10 minutes walk from the station serves shropshire gold and a decent food menu. Or if you fancy something even more upmarket again on the river is the Mytton and Mermaid at Atcham fabulous place with good food and only 3 miles drive from the ground. Wish I could be there
