Earlier on in the season I heard many people stating that we should have gone after top Championship players. Yesterday on radio stoke I heard many people state that we should have bought more premiership players if that where we want to get back to.
What’s the answer?? Or better question, would you take us adding 1 more player to the squad with prem quality or sell Butland and Allen for around £50 million and buy 3/4 top championship players ??

well we aren't getting promoted so we will be getting a lot less income next year and we will have to comply with FFP rules so we will have to sell.

Pejic was saying on Radio Stoke that we should buy premiership players. The problem with that is if they are good enough for the premiership why would they come to us? I know money talks but it's a short career and they would still be paid well in the Premier league.
Plus, isn't part of our problem this season (apart from Rowett!) that the Premier league players we still have haven't adapted to this league?
I would rather we bought 2 or 3 up and coming championship players such as Watkins, Mephem, etc. to add to the squad.

The big mistake was getting a Championship manager (at best) rather than make a real effort to get promoted by employing someone with good Premier League credentials or a respected foreign manager.
Maybe if Rowett had the personality and strength to batter our more troublesome players into submission he'd be getting somewhere but it's obvious that the same problems that affected Hughes and Lambert are still evident.
I'd never have got rid of Hughes if we were going to get Lambert and wouldn't have got rid of Lambert if we were going to get Rowett.
Apart from the recruitment of Pulis, which I still think was more luck than judgement, Coates has been a fucking disaster from a footballing perspective.

Buy players with something to prove and a desire to work hard and get better.
Not so called "tried and tested" players who look like they're coasting.
I couldn't give two shits where those players come from to be honest....

The last 2 years have been high farce of epic proportions, but to say that Coates has been a disaster 2nd time around is fairly unbelievable. You can't read that back to yourself with a straight face?...

Good players with good characters to suit the system and the way we want to play. It's not rocket science but it appears to be for Rowett and co.

Ince, Afobe,Clucas were all Premier players. Woods considered a top championship player and a snip. Throw Butland, Allen, Berahino, McLean, Williams etc into the pot, all premier players last season. Coco and Williams are about the level we could attract unless Morata is now surplus to Chelsea !! Need to get real

We won’t be buying anything this month, what a mess. Probably right (well apart from the loans to buy we have already agreed) Coates will keep Rowett on for a bit longer but not trust him to spend anything.

We'll struggle to beat any decent opposition for a player you would think, especially a permanent deal with GR publicly on the ropes and his own supporters loudly voicing their thoughts... doesn't scream we are the best option if there are other options does it?
