It depends on how you define 'fan' wakefield. I know quite a few folk who regularly attended Vale matches in the past who have said that they will be going down Stoke this coming season, their excuse being "to watch Premier League football".
BUT are they fans?

One of the lads at work who supports the Vale has not had a new season ticket even though they are very cheap and is already talking about going the "odd one or two Stoke matches".
Is he wanted?

I know historically people have seen both sides play Stoke one week then Vale the other - some 20,30,40+ years ago. So I'd expect them to watch a few Stoke games next year.
I'm referring to the 'new' generation who are solely Vale y_oh_y_delilah!

Thing is you have to think, if the vale were in the situation we are in and vice versa, would you go watch the vale?
I for one wouldnt

As y-o-y says there will be some who have watched Vale in the past and will now also go to the Brit. There probably won't be a huge number who go to the Brit and stop going to Vale Park.
What will probably happen though is that a number of young kids who might have chosen Vale as their club to support, will now choose Stoke instead. That is the big threat Vale faces to its existance. Up until this season the city split about 4 to 1 in favour of Stoke - that split will be about 6 to 1 next season and if that situation continues for a few years then Vale's existance will be put in doubt.

The problem with this is not only will they take seats that could have gone to real Stoke fans that can't afford Season Tickets, but also can you see any of them actully singing for Stoke?
Atmosphere gets affected as i don't see any of them singing Delilah and the Atmosphere is something we need in the Prem.
