I just thought I would look back to the 2017/18 season to see how the league table stood at the same point of the season. IF you buy that we are getting better (7 games unbeaten and okay more draws than we would like) and that individual players will continue to improve (stop missing so many chances / stop the poor game management) and that Gary Rowett is getting the team moving in the right direction ... and I accept that is a big If !!! ... then look at where Fulham were this time last season: League Championship table after close of play on 04 December 2017 Pos Team Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts 1 Wolverhampton Wanderers 20 15 2 3 41 17 24 47 2 Cardiff City 20 13 4 3 30 14 16 43 3 Bristol City 20 10 7 3 32 21 11 37 4 Sheffield United 20 12 1 7 33 24 9 37 5 Aston Villa 20 10 6 4 29 18 11 36 6 Derby County 20 10 5 5 30 21 9 35 7 Ipswich Town 20 10 2 8 35 30 5 32 8 Leeds United 20 9 3 8 30 25 5 30 9 Middlesbrough 20 8 5 7 25 20 5 29 10 Preston North End 20 7 8 5 23 21 2 29 11 Brentford 20 6 9 5 31 27 4 27 12 Sheffield Wednesday 20 6 9 5 25 23 2 27 13 Nottingham Forest 20 9 0 11 28 33 -5 27 14 Reading 20 7 5 8 26 24 2 26 15 Fulham 20 6 8 6 26 27 -1 26 16 Norwich City 20 6 6 8 18 26 -8 24 17 Millwall 20 5 7 8 22 21 1 22 18 Queens Park Rangers 20 5 7 8 22 29 -7 22 19 Barnsley 20 5 5 10 24 31 -7 20 20 Hull City 20 4 7 9 34 37 -3 19 21 Bolton Wanderers 20 3 7 10 19 37 -18 16 22 Birmingham City 20 4 4 12 10 29 -19 16 23 Sunderland 20 2 8 10 26 38 -12 14 24 Burton Albion 20 3 5 12 12 38 -26 14 Sorry, could not work out how to do a screen print ... and here is the link www.11v11.com/league-tables/league-championship/04-december-2017/For now anyway, I am going to try to keep the faith ! A lot of our play currently is very very good - we need to push on find a way of making that last for the vast majority of the match and not just a small majority of it.

Interesting.
The Top 2 remained the top two 26 games later and both went up.
The Bottom 2 remained the bottom two 26 games later and both went down.
Fulham pulled off a blinding final 26 games and and squeaked up through the play-off competition.
If you think we can do the same Bet Victor will pay you £1,400 on a £100 stake, but my money is staying firmly in my pocket!

Let’s not forget Fulham’s ridiculous run almost did the unthinkable and got them automatic promotion, in theory as long as we bag enough points to claim 6th spot we’re in the game.
It would mean we’d make the play offs with momentum as well which is massive.
Here’s hoping.....

Afraid hope went out the window after Saturday we will not make the play offs with Rowett at the helm. He needs to change his tactics before we get any hope of a top 6 place.

We're doomed. Probably another 27 years outside the top flight.
Oh hang on. Someone here mentioned Christmas. If miracles are likely to happen isn't this the time of year that things start.
So Christmas miracle for Stoke. Follow our new star- Sam Clucas.
Whatever happens I expect our three wise men, Coates, Scholes and Cartwright turn up late for the party, wondering what all the fuss is about. Happy advent to all.

Still think it's a pretty sizable failure if we don't make automatic promotion. There's no excuses.

Sack this hopeless manager and appoint someone with a clue and we then have an outside chance of the play offs.
It has been a disastrous season so far

Its not happening with a manager who hasnt the bollocks to try and turn draws into wins by really going for it in the last 15 or 20 minutes of games.

Well he tends to prefer to try and sit on 1 goal leads even when , like on Saturday, we have got the opposition on the ropes ready to throw in the towel.

And I don't. Sorry.
Even "if" some of the other long-overdue areas are coming together, just look at the gutless and clueless substitutions on Saturday to inspire any faith in his management.

I'm still confident that we will make the play offs. Strengthen the defence in the window and find a way to get Afobe properly firing and I think that’s comfortably attainable. Afobe needs replacing with a proper striker.....one that jumps to head the ball and both feet leave the feckin' ground!

There's probably fault on both sides, but I can see why he's done well at this level previously. I wonder if his confidence has been knocked by Wolves wanting to get rid as soon as they reached the promised land. Must have been a bit humiliating to effectively be told you're not wanted or good enough at that level.
