At their summer Conferences, the Football Supporters Federation and Supporters Direct agreed to amalgamate. This will formally happen at the first meeting of the new organisation tomorrow in London. If you happen to be free and around, you would be most welcome. You can vote either in person at the meeting or by proxy. www.fsf.org.uk/latest-news/view/new-organisation-elections-updateIn order to become a voting member of the new organisation, you have to register. It's free, but it's not an automatic transfer from FSF membership. If you get "Fan Mail", you will still get it even if you don't re-register, but wouldn't be able to vote until you do. You can see from the link that there will be an election for Chair of the new organisation and that I am a candidate. As of now I am unopposed but that could change up to the start of tomorrow's meeting. If you would like to vote in that election, but can't attend, you can nominate a proxy to vote on your behalf. You can nominate the Company Secretary, myself, or anyone who is going to the meeting. The link contains a further link to the proxy form. You will see from the link that I have already been successful in election to the Council from the Championship affiliates section. I thank the Supporters Club for their support in nominating me for that section. If I am elected as Chair, I will not need to take up that place and it will go to the 4th placed candidate. There is also a very important election in the individual members section, for which there are a lot of candidates for 6 places. Some of those have already been successful in other sections and if they choose to take up those places rather than this section, will drop out. But there will still be contested election with a lot of candidates for the 6 places. If you would like to vote in that election, and can't turn up, you can also vote by proxy, by nominating the Company secretary, me or someone else who is going. You will see that there is a separate form for this. You can either give instructions to the proxy on how to vote after you have read the candidates statements, or leave it to their discretion. This is all a bit complicated, but it represents a significant move forward for effective supporter representation. I thank any stokies who vote for me, by proxy or in person.

Yes, if the person I'm acting as proxy for is happy for me to do so. It's their decision, not mine.

Yes, if the person I'm acting as proxy for is happy for me to do so. It's their decision, not mine. The option on the form transfers the decision (on who to vote for) to the proxy though, that’s why I was wondering... Anyway just to clarify I do want my vote to go to you!

Done Malcolm but it is a bit of a faff as you say. If you copy & paste the email address at the bottom of the voting form it comes up as invalid. I think that is because of the full stop at the end, which you have to delete to make it a valid email address.
Good luck in the election.

I think getting my colleagues to change allegiance is a bridge too far After the meeting, Malcolm, who lives in south east London went off to Euston to get a peak hour train ( not cheap ! ) to Stoke to attend a Vale Supporters club meeting, returning home late in the evening. That's dedication

What is the merged organisation called? Has the Gootball Supporters Federation name migrated to the new organisation.

What is the merged organisation called? Has the Gootball Supporters Federation name migrated to the new organisation. Gootball The legal name is the Unified Football Supporters Organisation ( there was opposition to the word "united", can't think why ). That doesn't exactly roll of the tongue, and isn't intended to, because the intention is to continue to use the existing "brands" ( FSF and SD) for campaigning purposes. It also avoided debates/arguments at this stage about the new name. We'll see how that works out and whether in due course, a new name is adopted.

I don’t know how your meetings go but if you’re going to start a little chant at the end then it really needs to be down 3 words. For example FSO (in the style of the daft USA chant)
