I was in the mood for a bit of Kim Carnes this morning and played Bette Davis Eyes from the '80s. The first time I heard this song was when it was used to advertise 7Up with lyrics changed to suit and it was some time after that that I realised it was a proper song (and a huge hit in the states).
That got me wondering about the song so I did a bit of Googling and found that it was actually a cover of a 1974 song. So here's a bit of nostalgia for the '80s kids out there...

Weird that you mentioned this. I heard it on the radio the other day and thought "yikes, I haven't heard this in years." Does she actually sing "makes a crow blush" or am I mishearing lyrics? Amazing how a lot of songs long ago I didn't care for have become much more palatable to me...I couldn't stand Hall and Oates, but now, when I hear them, I really enjoy it. Maybe reminds me of youth I guess.

Mind you, I have started looking at the jackets in Greenwood's, lately!

Did Betty Davis like a song being named after her eyes? Loved it, Joe. She told me this over a game of pool in the Dew Drop, once.

It was on the radio all the time during my first term at uni. I always associate it with being 19, starting out on life’s big adventure. As far as you can in Birmingham anyway.

There's a great funk singer from the seventies called Betty Davis.
Still sounds good.
