The clue's in the title. We ought to have won that, maybe the ref's kind to animals and old ladies but he's got no business reffing football matches on today's evidence. We're showing spells of real quality, fluency and confidence at last. And for a side that still doesn't look that solid at the back to have scrambled one more clean sheet away from home is fantastic. Plenty more to do, we're continuing to climb a big old hill but a good job of football management today imo. Gary didn't let himself or the lads get distracted by all the McLean baloney either. 8 from me * if you were there please * waste of time posting that sal.i would say none of the replies on this thread are from stokies who were at the match.unfortunatly the vast majority of stokies who do go to matches have left this board.

I often find two contrasting opinions from people who watched the game live and those who watch on the telly. for me the word of someone who has watched it live is worth ten words from a tv critic.

Don't disagree, but to say that most who go have stopped coming on this board cannot be justified IMO.

Stoke have chances including the header off the line in the last minute... Nothing said Butland makes a couple of decent saves (but by no means extraordinary top class saves)... He keeps us in it and we're lucky to get away with a point.
I really don't get some of the 'logic' from a few of the comments on this thread so far

I can only speak from experience.those in my little group who I meet up with matchday don't come on here and even the majority of the golfing guys have given up.imo it was the level of vitriol directed at tp on this board that had many stokies giving up this board.shameful

His mate on the right for a start, followed by Diouf on the left. H And yet MacLean was excellent on the right, miles better than he is on the left. Diouf was rubbish Obviously your definition of excellent differs greatly from mine. H

7.5*
He put out the team he thought stood the best chance of getting a result, when other selections would have been 'politically' easier. McLeans performance vindicated that selection. Diouf's a bit less so. Overall it was a decent performance away from home against a good side. Result could have gone either way in the end. We have stopped leaking goals. Now we need to turn possession into more chances and take more of them.

So didn't pay off then because we needed to create and couldn't. McClean should be nowhere near the side and let's be honest, the club. Would have agreed you at five to three yesterday. If MacLean plays like that on a regular basis then he'd be a major asset Nothing worse,in my view,in refusing to accept a good performance when it's staring you in the face. Say it as you see it not as your prejudices dictate. He may have played ok but he created nothing, didn't score and we didn't win. Hardly vindicated.

I spoke to a Forest fan this morning who was at the game and he said their goalie never touched Afobe.........but he would say that would he not!

6* needs to be braver. Forest were there for the taking and half time was the chance to change it up, Diouf offered little and should have been replaced at 45 mins. Then 20 mins of Bojan if we weren't ahead by then
Clean sheets are great but goals win matches
Ref was out of his depth and scared to give the 'big' decisions against the home side

I agree with you - that's why add the * if you were at the game or no * otherwiose, so if you were there we know that's where your opinion's coming from (longtime Oatcakers will remember bringbackmuggleton, who talked amazing crap about going to every game, I swear he'd never been to one in his life - so the star was born kind of in memory of him)

7 for me, Diouf should not have been on, should have been Berahino. Afobe needs dropping and Berahino playing up top play Clucas on the left . Diouf might not have been great but sometimes on here people write down teams with woods Allen berahino and bojan in it I think we should cut rowett some slack...it's not realistic to expect GR to pick a load of lightweight smallish players for an away game in the championship. Because GR is the actual manager and not giving oatcake opinion he has to get a minimum amount of muscle and height in the side to defend corner kicks and free kicks And that could mean for instance Diouf preferred over berahino on the left
