Sentinel suggesting we're in for him. At least we're targeting a position that we need. Never seen him play but he looks a big lad. Apparently Villa in for him too.

He plays left back. Very consistent, good at getting forward and sound defensively. I’d take him like a shot.
I’d happily take Barbet, Konsa (CB] and Watkins(LW) in January.

Can see us looking at players from brentford tbh for a few reasons. They are willing to let players go for reasonable prices, they have some good ones and they are likely to see stoke as a step up both in wages and club stature.
Poor Brentford lol

If we want to get out this division we need better than him.

Taken from a random site:
1. Started career in France- Barbet was born in Libourne in the south-west of France and had spells as a youngster at local sides such as AS Mouliets, Olympique Saint-Pey and FC Vallée de Gamage. He got one cap for the French U18’s side which he obtained in a fixture against Belgium in January 2011.
2. Former Bordeaux player- The 25-year-old joined the Ligue 1 side in July 2007 and rose through their youth ranks. Barbet quickly established himself as a regular for their B team and played 75 games for them altogether.
3. Impressed at Chamois Niortais– Barbet swapped Bordeaux’s B team for Ligue 2 outfit Chamois Niortais in July 2014. He spent just a single season with them in the second tier but impressed in the 32 appearances he made.
4. Key player for Dean Smith Brentford- The Bees signed him in June 2015 on a four-year contract and he was a regular under the now Aston Villa boss Dean Smith. He was used as both a centre-back and left-back. Barbet has played just under 100 games for the London side to date and has nailed down a first-team place.
5. Free-kick specialist- Barbet has got a good left-foot and can take set pieces for Brentford. He has chipped in with seven goals so far during his time at Griffin Park. He would be a useful signing for Villa as he offers something going forward as well as sticking to his defensive duties.

If we want to get out this division we need better than him. Exactly the sort of player we should be looking at ,hungry players looking to make a name for themselves .

He did catch the eye in the game early in the season, looked very comfortable on the ball (as did all their players). Not pacy mind. Another left footed defender is an obvious gap in the squad.

Sorry, didn't realise I had to analyse the player thoroughly before having an opinion. You just seem certain about him so I assumed you were in the know.

Plays for Brentford so if Dean Smith wants him at Villa then we can forget him. It's not clear what Villa's financial situation is. In a straight fight yes he goes there however Villa may not be in a position in January to outbid Stoke.

Seems to have come from Pete O'Rourke on twitter. He did get Martina interest first (I think), but don't know how reliable he is generally. I don't think he's a complete bullshit merchant.
But if both teams really are in, you'd think he'd be Villa-bound

With the state of the division, a bit of investment in the right areas could secure promotion. Unless they have a stoke city type transfer window
