Another poor comment from Rowett regarding Martina being taller so may play, which you could argue for if Martina actually attacked the ball and headed it, but he doesn't and quite often ducks out the way, not seen him win many aerial battles. At least Edwards challenges for the ball and goes forward. Martina is woeful and offers nothing at either end of the pitch for me Ffs Edwards was fucking *miles* better at winning headers than anything I’ve seen from Cuco

Not sue how you can argue with Rowett there, Martina is better at defending the box in the air from what I've seen.

I never understood why Edwards was dropped last season, he was holding his own in the premier league. Genuinely don't agree with that mate. I thought he was looking very wobbly in a few games last season and that it wasn't doing him any favours being throw into the deep end in a poor team. However, Edwards really was one of the best players on the pitch yesterday and looks ready for first team football now. It'll be something of a travesty if he doesn't play next week. My only worry is that GR may have made a very passionate case to the board be allowed to sign Martina (on huge PL wages) and would lose face with the board if he dropped him for a player he already had available to him at the club!?

Was it Man City away where Edwards was hung out to dry on his debut by the idiot Hughes?

Rowett - tell you what Edwards, for that performance you produced Saturday, you’re being dropped.
Here, watch these videos of Martina and McClesn while you’re at home on match days,
If you want get a game, you have to be as shit as Martina and McClesn who I brought in!

Was it Man City away where Edwards was hung out to dry on his debut by the idiot Hughes? And then played him at Spurs away, another cracking idea.

It does my nut in the amount of times we let the ball bounce instead of attacking it. I'm sure as kids* we were told to never let the ball bounce! *May have been rugby training but the same thing applies!

Rowett seems to be very poor when talking about players who are not his favourites, he seems to go out of his way to not really them any credit. If he drops him now it sends out the message if you get your chance and take it I will still pick my favourites.

Sorry doesn't add up.

Been saying it for a while. Edwards should start every time. For a young man he put in a very mature performance. While I agree, let's not get too ahead of ourselves. Edwards has been inconsistent which is expected for a young man at the start of his career. Rotation will be key. He hasn't fully developed both physically and mentally yet and he's going to need to deal with the occasional fuck up that he will inevitably make. Not sure he's 100% ready for that yet, which is why Martina remains a useful addition to our squad. The fact Martina is far worse than I expected him to be, doesn't change the fact we need him.

Great display, but let's not expect miracles. He's a young lad, who is going to make the odd mistake and when he does we need to rally behind him and not give him the usual PTSD treatment when he makes a positional error or misplaces a pass.
As for his skills however, I'd genuinely put him on corners? His delivery has been far better than I can remember anyone having for a long time.

As for his skills however, I'd genuinely put him on corners? His delivery has been far better than I can remember anyone having for a long time. This is exactly why he needs a run in the team where he can settle in, get some consistency and put in the odd under-performance without being immediately dropped.
