Been saying it for a while. Edwards should start every time.
For a young man he put in a very mature performance.

When you see Edwards put in a performance like that, you have to wonder why we thought the loan of Martina was even necessary? Berahino was much better than McClean on the left too.

Suspicion he wasn't quite ready I guess. We probably dropped a division at just the right time for him to be honest, a run in the Champo should be perfect for his development now.

I wasn't convinced before this game but Edwards was superb, fully deserves a run in the team now That game was a real tough one to watch, still can't believe we came away with the 3 points, backs to the wall but job well done!

I never understood why Edwards was dropped last season, he was holding his own in the premier league.

It says a lot about the mindset of our fans at the moment when a positive thread about one player is framed as a negative thread about another.

Sounded like he had an excellent game today. He did! Kept the defending simple with no stupid passes & thought about making the correct pass. Overlapped when needed & joy upon joy....crossed the ball! This league with a regular run now will make him a bloody good player

Well said. People need to separate their anger issues from players, manager and hierarchy. “Anger issues”? What? Yes. A lot of Stoke fans, and a good number on here are angry with how the club has been run over the last few years, and quite rightly so. Also a lot of these people are taking their frustrations out on certain players and a manager who, whilst has made some early mistakes, is only a short time into his contract here and hasn't been given anywhere near enough time yet to turn us into a force in this league.

You want him on the bench?! The waster wouldn't be allowed at the training ground if I had anything to do with it.

This has been one of my biggest frustrations of the season with Rowett.
Tom Edwards. Is he the finished article? Of course not, show me an 18/19 year old that is.
Does he have areas that need polishing? See above. Does he have areas that can and will improve us? Yes, he is excellent going forward and puts in regular, good service from out wide.
The frustration grows when your club brings in a player in the same position that is no better in pretty much all areas of his game. Edwards is no worse defensively and today put in a performance defensively far superior to anything Martina has to date, and I would wager WILL all season long.
He can't possibly be dropped now and it really is up to the manager and his merry band of coaches to take Edwards in under their wing and improve him, coach him and push him on.

Edwards is better going forward than Martina, better defensively than Bauer. + He's not on loan, he's from the Academy so he should be be more committed (certainly plays like that) and he will only get better.
No brainer isn't it?

Hopefully that was the performance that convinced Rowett Edwards was ready for the job.
Thought he really looked the part, and was pushing Butland for MOTM.
He certainly deserves to keep his place.

Rowett pretty much said he wouldn't have played but for a late training injury for Martina and when questioned about Edwards excellent performance would only say it puts him in contention for the next match. I think he'll play next Saturday then find himself out of team again post international break.

There is no doubt whatsoever that Edwards should keep his place next week after his performance yesterday, his 1st thought is forward unlike Martina and Pieters.Dropping him next Saturday would send out all the wrong signals for me.

Another poor comment from Rowett regarding Martina being taller so may play, which you could argue for if Martina actually attacked the ball and headed it, but he doesn't and quite often ducks out the way, not seen him win many aerial battles. At least Edwards challenges for the ball and goes forward. Martina is woeful and offers nothing at either end of the pitch for me
