Surely the 6-1 win over Liverpool has to be in there?

The 5-0 FA Cup Semi must be up there?
But surely it's 2-1 v Chelsea in 1972 for the top spot?

For me, the best ever game was the 3-2 victory over West Ham in the 2nd replay of the old League Cup at Old Trafford in 1972. The Guardian's Sports Correspondent at the time, Eric Todd wrote. "Heaven inspire to find new superlatives. If I live to 100 I shall never see a game such as this". The game had everything and was fought out in horrible conditions (horizontal rain). The 2-1 defeat of Chelsea in the Final would not, of course have been possible if we had not managed to defeat West Ham in the Semi.

Was at the 5-0 Arse game, the League Cup Final (and semi at Old Trafford), the 2-0 at Ninian Park and 5-0 v Bolton at Wembley, plus the Final of course! The 4-4 v Luton was a classic to see live and felt like a win though. For sheer drama and catharsis, Ninian Park will always stay with me though...

Waitrose own brand would also be good for the same reason.

There’s so many for me.
Beating Bolton at Wembley. Beating Liverpool 6-1 Hammering Wolves at the custard bowl when Ricardo ran the show- and we won 4-1 Beating Villa on our return to the Premiership. The Man City game and the infamous roar Any victory against the Arse- scumbags Beating Peterborough to get to Wembley and tuppers goal Beating West Brom 4-3 in the 90’s and going mental on the Boothen.
But in answer to your thread our greatest win was the League Cup Final sadly before I was born.

The 6-1 against Liverpool.
Not only was it utterly magnificent to behold, but it was their favourite sons final game for his club, so when he looks back on his career, he’ll be constantly reminded that his final game in the shirt of his boyhood club was a fucking fisting by Stoke City.
Priceless.

This was really special not only because it was just a sensational game of football which had everything including a Gordon Banks save as good as Pele's but it meant at last for the first time in our history we were at wembley. In those days that was an enormous milestone. sadly every fecker now gets to play at wembley...that's why the stadium is no longer special

1 League Cup Final 2 League Cup Semi-final 2nd leg 3 Stoke 3 Leeds, 2 ends unbeaten run of a great side that knew how to win games. 4 Stoke 5 Arsenal 0, tore apart a team that won the double the previous season.

The 6-1 Liverpool and the 5-0 semi must surely rank as the best in my lifetime, mainly because the opposition, the level of games and yet the sheer dominance of each match by Stoke.
My personal favourites though are: The the 0-2 at the Vale. We had stuttered and were under pressure, yet went and took the league away from a rival on their patch, and it was the Vale to sweeten the deal. As complete away performance as I had ever witnessed by Stoke.
Sure it was a low level but all I had witnessed to this point in my Stoke supporting time was a team who never won away and lost more than we won, and two relegations. Now we were champions! Awesome year, awesome win. My best period supporting Stoke.
The other is the 10 man win at home to Man City. Not the best, not the prettiest, but one game that exemplified the spirit in the club, players and fans at that time. That is what it meant to be Stoke.

Clearly remember saying to my lad when Rory got sent off, that’s it we’re down. Oh me of little faith.

It wasn't the greatest win, but any thread like this should at least carry a mention of the Autoglass semi-final victory over Peterborough.
I've never once seen a replay of Warey's stunning goal without at the very least getting a whopping big lump in my throat. What a goal and what a feeling at the final whistle. Special days.
