Seems to be the hint from Pulis in his interview.
I suppose needs must - but it does emphasise what a small squad we've got.

Wright to left back, (if match fit) Wilko at RB and Zak in the middle, with Pugh moving into midfield would make more sense than Buckaroo IMO.

I wouldn't have thought Wright would be fit - and Wilko's pulled his hamstring, according to Pulis.
Where does de Laet feature in the pecking order?
Is there any alternative to
Simo Zak-Cort-Buxton-Pugh Lawrence-Delap-Pulis-Cresswell Sidibe-Fuller
Hoult Dickinson Wedderburn Parkin Phillips

Wilkinson's done his hamstring and is out for a while according to Pulis.
If we can get Wright fit, things would look much better with Zakuani partnering Cort.
If not, surely it's worth going with de Laet at RB so we can get Zak in the middle that way.

How about first eleven:
Simmo
Wright Zak Cort Pugh
Lawrence Delap Cresswell
Parkin Fuller Sidibie
We're at home after all... ;D
(If Wright's not fit then Dicko right-back)

Eustace is suspended SGS
I'll go (as ive said before)
Wright (if match fit) [Buxton or De Laet if not] Cort Zak Dicko
Cresswell Larwrence Delap Pugh
Sidders and Rikki
or put demar on the left, pugh left back, dick right back

Sorry but when exactly did he hint that either would play?

Soi, he mentioned them explicitly post-match when asked about options for Sunday, in light of the suspensions - but clearly didn't say this was definitely the route he'd take
I wouldn't fancy Buxton against King or Henderson with his lack of aerial prowess.
So we've got to get Zakuani partnering Cort one way or the other.
If Wright's fit, he'll play. But, if not, I think I'd go with de Laet.
Do we want to completely reconfigure the midfield by putting Cress on the right, playing Lawrence in the middle - and giving Demar a go?
Simo Wright (de Laet)- Cort -Zak- Pugh Cress - Lawro - Delap - Demar Sid-Fuller

It's a bit scary to see how paper thin the squad is. We need 3 or 4 in just to get up to par. Hopefully we'll be able to keep Shawcross in January. Surely Fergie won't recall him, will he?

That seems a much stronger team, but I'd be surprised if Pulis went for such a sweeping overhaul.
If Wright is unfit, I still think he's likely to go with
Simo Zak-Cort-Buxton-Pugh Lawrence-Delap-Pulis-Cresswell Sidibe-Fuller
....which looks desperately weak through the middle.

If we go like-for-like and don't move Lawrence inside, is Wedderburn the only other possible alternative to Pulis Jr?
And he's only 16, isn't he?

Does anyone know where Richie de Laet was playing? Looks like right wing? Was Buxton at RB with Marlon and Zak in the middle? Maybe this'll give a clue to his thinking for Sun? Stoke City: Hoult, Buxton, Dickinson, Pulis, Zakuani (Wedderburn, 45), Broomes, De Laet, Hazley (J Phillips, 70), Parkin, Pericard, D Phillips. Subs not used: Thorley, Hamilton. That's a really 'strong' team(if the likes of Bucko, Ant, Winkle and Marlon can ever feature in a 'strong' team at any level) to get comprehensively beaten at home by bloody Walsall. "They were difficult conditions, but the players have all had a run around. I'm not worried about the result. It was just about getting 90 minutes under their belts." But Tone's not worried by the performance

Radio Stoke say Wright will be fit to play at right-back - so at least Buxton shouldn't be playing.

Very good news if Wright is fit because it means Zak can partner Cort.
I'd be tempted to put Pugh in centre midfield
Simo Wright, Zak, Cort, Dicko Lawrence, Delap, Pugh, Cressie Fuller Sidibe

I'd go with that Forner, if only to keep the chuckle brothers (well, their attempts to play football make me laugh!) Lou and Ant out of the side.
Pugh and Delap does not look like a dominant midfield pairing though, does it? Needs must I guess, but it only serves to underline the absolute dog's breakfast they have made of recruitment since last season.
