Can't find a thread that would link to this (there's bound to be some random fucking thread so apologies if there is)
Anyway...
GR: We always felt it would be difficult to start quickly for reasons I won't go into but I feel as though we are making good strides now. I think we have controlled a lot of games & created lots of chances. The way we are playing is one I feel we can enjoy success with long term
What doesn't he want to go into?

Maybe he has erectile dysfunction so he needs a while to warm up with the missus?🤔

He inherited a load of demoralised, unfit players who had got used to losing, I would guess.
To adjust to going from a struggler in the PL which gets 30% possession a game to a big boy in the Championship which gets 70% possession instead is a major transition.
11 games in, we are just finally seeing us settling down.

I think he means more by it than that Jezza. West Brom and Swansea were in the exact same boat as us and have taken to things much more quickly, its a pretty lame excuse if that is all that he means.

Because he didn’t get the players that he knew the team required, holding midfielder, centre backs & full backs, solved the midfield position and had to make do with loan signings for defensive positions. It’s going to be interesting as to where Clucas will play as he might be lined up for defensive duties.

His first full season at Derby was like this:
3 wins in the first 1O games and 15th place.
13 wins in the next 2O games and 2nd place.
2 wins in the next 13 games, and they drop out of the top 6.
A recovery in the last 3 games, and they finish 6th with 75 points.
A roller coaster ride but a play off position at the end.

The fixture list was reasonably kind to us giving us games against all 3 promoted teams 2 of them being at home and we managed just one point...shocking really. Rowett was installed early as a manager who knew this league and yet we floundered from day one. In stark contrast Swansea and West Brom both with rookie managers at this level have looked more comfortable and achieved 4 and 8 points more than us. I don't really want to hear more slopey shouldered blaming of others for this shambles so I am glad he isnt going to elaborate. Our awful start is Rowett's responsibility and his inability to get us organised and firing has cost us some serious points. Looking at the fixtures we really should be on around 17/18pts.

Here’s hoping we can do similar but without the drop off in form in the last third. We can still win this league IMO.

Rowett tried to park the bus after taking a 1-0 lead in the first leg. He left the league's leading scorer Vydra on the bench and managed just one shot on target....let's hope he learn't something from that experience.

I think what the results show at Derby is that it's almost impossible to predict what is going to happen this season, but he did recover from a poor start.
Apparently he also added more players to his squad and that coincided with a severe drop in form in the new year.
The defensive issues are the problem for now, whether it's a lack good defenders or a tactical problem I'm not sure.

The defensive issues are all down to individual errors. For Williams and Shawcross that's down to their bodies getting older and slower.

Only Preston have conceded more goals this season in the Championship.

A dig at the Pizza boys, maybe? Certainly I can imagine they make his job more difficult in some respects.

I'd agree but 16 of the 18 were very easily avoidable if one player did their job properly.

He has to be referencing recruitment. Can't see any professional football manager being content with our lack of depth in certain positions (left wing, striker, centre half and LB). We're painfully imbalanced- we have to keep our fingers crossed that our starters can stay fit all season or players being forced into new positions can somehow surprise us all. I'm baffled the club would take the risk (or am I?)... oh to be a fly on the wall...

Feel like he's getting at that now he has his signings for example Woods, we are in a much stronger position. Perhaps hinting that he would of liked it all done sooner maybe.

Well Ryan appears to be carrying the can. I think he means 1 player in each of the goals (Ryan for one, Williams for one etc...) Not just 1 player, if that makes sense?

I'm a bit concerned that he keeps trotting out that 'average finish in the championship for a relegated prem team being 9th' statistic, I hope he's not gearing himself up to tell us if we finish 8th we have somehow surpassed all expectations.
Bottom line is he inherited a side which only fell out of the Prem by a meager 3 points, and from that team we have only lost Shaqiri of consequence and in turn we invested a further £50m in the summer which is telephone numbers by the standards of most championship teams. If he chooses not to use that resource say in the case of Bauer and Etebo then that's his decision but with the playing resources at our disposal we should be winning this league exactly as the bookmakers said we would 8 short weeks ago.
I like him and I think he is slowly getting there but I am still expecting nothing less than promotion in May.
