But he didn't and incredibly the last 27 penalties against us have ended up in the back of our net.
Did he get both hands to it?
Conversely we have converted 1 of our last 7.
Unless we fix this in a league where everything happens at the margins we're never going to get anywhere.

Oh , and it wasn't a penalty, I've watched it back 5 times and there is not even the merest hint of a foul from Williams, their lad stitched us up like a kipper.

I think it’s actually 1in 8 if you include Bojan’s miss against Crystal Palace at home, then Arnie’s miss at Swansea, berahino v Southampton Charlie v Brighton, Shaq v Swansea, Adobe at West Brom and Berahino v Blackburn. Sandwiched in between was our game changer at Leeds.

Not looking through Beer goggles are you Gods😄 Ha maybe! So far as I can see in straining to get goal side of Williams their lad either fell over or threw himself to the floor. Lets give him the benefit of the doubt and say he fell over. I can't see a trip or a push taking him down. Honestly I have no idea what Williams is supposed to have done? Someone tell me and I'll take a further forensic look with that in mind!

Whether it was or wasn’t a penalty ...Butland needs to practice them a lot more, plus our designated penalty takers need to practice more . I know why don’t they spend an extra 20 mins at the end of training taking penalties against Butland ..you never know they might score a few and Butters might save a few.. Just a thought ..

Oddly, the best penalty savers aren't the best goalkeepers. I think Heurelho Gomes has the best save rate in Premier League history. Wasn't Sorensen very good at them too?

Correction, Jack “should have” saved a penalty.
It was poor from him having chosen the right way to dive....

He's as piss poor as Begovic was.
We were spoilt by Tommy Sorenson but since we've barely ever got near one!
The amount we miss is farcical.

Butland with jelly hands.
The penalty was a lovely height and not hit too hard, but Butland doesn’t do penalty saves.

And Sorensen was a very good goalkeeper, his play earned us many vital points over a season Jack is going through a tough time at the moment, but has made some outstanding saves too

Like the chap but I am afraid to say he is a poor keeper. I reckon he could have done better with over 20 of our goals last year and the numbers are already stacking up this year too.
It is not just penalties that he is poor with - he has to be the worse keeper we have ever had on 1 on 1's, his angles are shocking and then there is the blatant fumbles and gaffs.
The penalty situation sums us up as a team at the moment, as in a bit disjointed and not switched on for 90 minutes and laser focused. We have to have a nominated penalty taker who can strike the ball and we should know who is going to take the penalty before we get one - Berahino taking the penalty last week was a decision that was beyond shocking
The difference between staying up and going down could literally be decided by small margins like penalties and it should not just be whoever grabs the ball first takes it may be followed by a little argument and words amongst certain players - it is all a little gung-ho and unprofessional.
As for our keeper, whomever the manager is - his mistakes and poor keeping seem to go totally unnoticed and he seems to be exempt of any blame whatsoever. He quite simply is never going to save a penalty and the best we can hope for is that somebody misses the target against us. We can, however, get our own ship in order when it comes to our turn to take penalties.
Butland desperately needs dropping or at least some viable competition, but the same could be said about the 4 defenders in front of him - the whole back 5 are shocking at the moment and we literally have no alternatives.
Over to you Rowett in the January window and until then damage limitation and keeping out of the bottom three

He only dives one way though. Rotherham didnt do their homework properly for penos Actually they did as Jack normally falls to his right. Thus the surprise he went left and should have saved it.

With the penalty, I thought Butland was very lucky to escape from a Red Card for deliberate handball when stopping a goal bound effort !

Clear penalty, Williams was tied in knots by their winger and when he was through Williams impeded him and ended up sitting on him. Biggest clue of all was Williams not protesting in the slightest, the oaf knew he’d fouled him.

Butland is the nearly man. Nearly saved a pen. Nearly kept the ball in. Nearly good enough for a Champions League team. Nearly England's number 1.

Now I’m getting really confused, if we are standing behind jack and he dives to the right, in the opposing players visual perspective isn’t he diving to their left ? And so the player was surprised that Jack went to their right but in fact we know that Jack normally dives to our ?

Leave him alone and let the cover clean it up. I'm still waiting for someone to tell me if Williams tripped him or pushed him to the ground? I'm not going to find out because he didn't do either! He sat on him, penalty.

You're the 2nd person to say that. He ended up sitting on him since they both fell but what brought the lad down? He seems to throw himself over Williams hip perhaps in trying to get goal side of him as they both went for the ball. I'll have look #10 in a minute!

After he'd made a mess of trying to stop the winger, I was expecting Williams to get out the way and leave Allen to deal with it.
But instead he acted like a surprisingly strong old man in a dressing gown catching a burglar in his kitchen and sitting on him until the police arrived. Bit embarrassing for the winger if anything.

Stonewall penalty, got turned, wrong side of the man, never got near the ball and clumsily brought him down.
