Rotherham had a lots of tall players... an GR decided to drop our tallest and strongest defender and replace him with Willams. I would love to hear his reasoning for that, if he has any.

By your reasoning, we'd have played Souttar wouldn't we? He's our tallest defender.
GR was right to drop Ryan, he's been shite - the rest will do him good...hopefully.

Lack of height wasn’t the reason we didn’t win.

Not sure there's that much in it is there, either way that wasn't a problem today, not tracking runners and trying to mount players was.

How can you assume "tactics" and "basic" when it comes to Rowett's tenure? That's the biggest stretch here. I can see "mistake" like we made a mistake appointing him but that is about it.

Smith was pretty fast for someone so tall - or at least our defenders made him look fast. I remember him beating Cuco and Bruno to a ball when they had a 3/4 yard head start on him!

Shawcross deserved to be dropped. I doudt he would have done much better than Williams today anyway. They're both past their best.

Well he is not the slowest.. but Souttar's pace would not have been a problem, because Williams is slower and Indi is about the same.

If ryan was on the pitch smith wouldn't have won anywhere near as much if the ball

Lack of height wasn’t the reason we didn’t win. I agree, a fat slow lumbering centre back was the reason.

Dropping Shawcross was basically to give him a jolt, I expect to see him back against Bolton. Williams was chosen for his ball playing skills apparently, unfortunately though he's slower than an asthmatic snail

I only saw the highlights against Forest but from what I saw Souttar is nowhere near ready for the first team. And where did this thing about him having pace come from? He looked like a carthorse to me.
As poor as Williams was I'd give the Williams/Indicate partnership another go. Shawcross needs time on the bench - not least to establish Woods position as captain.

Shawcross should be brought back in, leave woods as Captain and let shawcross concentrate on winning headers.

Everyone is assuming that Ryan would win headers - is it just me or has he been a lot less dominant in the air since he had his bad back, which looks like it prevents him jumping as well as he used to?

This. People saying Souttar 'isn't ready' based purely on him losing a crucial header v Forest is ridiculous as Shawcross has been losing headers frequently over a much longer period. At least Souttar is young & can improve - at this moment in time I'd rather stick with him than Williams
